TD-W8961ND - Router loses connection but no lights go off

Hello.
Recently my router started this wierd behavior -
Every once a while (atleast once every 30 mins), he loses internet connection - if i have a 'ping' window running i see timeout requests for the duration. also, it is impossible to access the router via the browser in that time. however, no lights on the router go off. i swapped to my old router, and this problem does not occur, so its related to the TP link router.
after a while it returns to normal function, or i have to turn it off and on again.
This problem makes gaming impossible since i get dropped out randomly, which sucks :)
does anyone know that problem? how to solve it? is it a hardware issue?
