I'm trying to set up a new Deco X50 but the app cannot find it.

I turn off my existing modem/router, plug the ethernet cable that runs from the NBN modem into one of the X50 (that is flashing blue) ports. I follow the prompts and it keeps asking to join wifi. With the modem/router turned off, the only wifi it can find is the Deco wifi, which displays a 'not connected' message.

How can there be active wifi when the usual modem/router is turned off? How can the Deco have acrite wifi when it's not yet set up? I'm sure it's not, given how many people have successfully set it up, but it seems like a conundrum - you need to connect to wifi, but there isn't an active connection because you've turned off the old modem/router.

Would someone far smarter than me please set me straight?
