Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.11 Build 120905
ISP : BT
Hello all,
I am having trouble gettiing a TL-WR1043ND to connect to a DrayTek Vigor 2820as and work as a Wifi Repeater.
I have setup as follows;
DrayTek connected to internet and broadcasting SSID: Wifi1 this I can connect to with laptop fine and surf the web. Then on the WR1043 setup SSID: Wifi2 and under
WDS Bridging, I click Survey which finds Wifi1 and connects, setup security etc for both and now can see Wifi2 on laptop and initially it connects fine, can browse web.
But then after a few mins I try to connect and although I can still see Wifi2 I get 'Connection Unsuccessful'. Also on the WR1043 the sys light is flashing on off slowly.
I have disabled DHCP on the WR1043ND.
Please could someone with experience of this setup show me what I am obviously doing wrong.
Thanks in advance
Jimlad

Hello HiSpeed,
Sorry for the late reply, I have been away for 2 weeks with no access to the internet.
I had the channel on the WR set to 1 but the channel on the Vigor set to automatic. I have now also set the channel on the vigor to 1 but am still unable to connect.
I have been searching for the firmware build wr1043nv1_en_3_13_13_up(130325).bin (note no mention of the word boot) But do not seem to be able to find anything? Do you know where I could download this build from?
Thanks
Jimlad

Hi
Thanks for that, I was worried about using that link as all the files there have the word "boot" in and I had read somewhere this can brick the router or something. Anyway I gave it a go and it worked fine.
Only trouble is the connection still will not stick. After I first connect to the Vigor from the Survey button and enter all settings I can connect to the WR1043 with my phone fine and the Vigor is showing in "Wireless Statistics" as a Connected Wireless Station. Then after a few minutes it will loose connection and when I try from my phone it will come up with "Connection Unsuccessful" and the Vigor also disappears from Wireless Statistics and doesn't come back.
Only way to get it connected again is to uncheck WDS, save and reboot router and enable again and then click Survey and reconnect the Vigor. Again I can then only connect to it with my phone for a few minutes before it looses connection.
Due to this initial connection I know the WDS Bridge is configured on the WR1043 so it must be the Vigor or am I missing something?
Thanks
Jim

Jimlad, check the DHCP Server settings on the Vigor and TP-Link (set the lease time to the max).
If you don't want to disable the TP-Link DHCP Server, set the Default Gateway to the local IP address of the Vigor, and give an address range not overlapping the Vigor range.

Hi
Thanks for you continued help. Have done what you suggested above. So I have now got the following settings.
Vigor Gateway IP is 10.0.0.254 (I assume when you mention Local IP address above you mean this)
I have configured the WR to Enable DHCP IP range 10.0.0.100-199 & Default Gateway 10.0.0.254 lease time 2880 which I assume is the max? I am unable to find a setting to set the lease on the Vigor could it be called something else?
Anyway I can now connect using my phone to the SSID of the WR and it holds the connection and I can log into the routers admin page wirelessly using the phone but cannot get to web pages, so must be missing 1 other thing??
Cheers
Jimlad

Hi Speed
I set the Primary DNS to 10.0.0.254 but still can't get to web pages.
The strange thing is I could get to web pages with my original settings before setting the lease time and enabling DHCP. But then it was only for the first 2 minutes after connecting, then I received connection unsuccessful, Now my phone stays connected all the time but no web access.
Thanks

Hi Jimlad,
Could you try to set your phone in the same way, I mean with a static IP 10.0.0.xxx and with 10.0.0.254 for Gateway and DNS?

Hi
Ok, tried that on my laptop, set Static IP 10.0.0.221 & default gate as 10.0.0.254 and subnet 255.255.255.0. But no different, still no web access?
