Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.7.8 Build 20240719 Rel. 70981

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing issues with my local network configured with a TP-Link MESH system, and I need help understanding whether the problem might be due to bandwidth limitations or some other configuration aspect. Here are the details of my case:

Network Setup:

  • MESH System:

    • Deco M5 as the main node.
    • Deco X50 Outdoor as an additional node.
    • According to the Deco app, both nodes show 100% signal strength between them and between cameras.
  • Connected Devices:

    • 1 Dahua NVR DHI-NVR1108HS-S3/H (Static IP: 192.168.0.180).
    • 8 Dahua WIFI IP cameras with static IPs (192.168.0.181 to 192.168.0.188).

Issues Observed:

  1. Video Delay:
There is a significant delay in the video stream from the cameras to the monitor connected via HDMI to the NVR (several seconds of delay).

  2. Frequent Disconnections:
Cameras frequently disconnect, and the NVR shows errors such as "Failed to find network host" or "Login timed out." Sometimes, the images freeze or the screen goes black.

  3. Signal:
The Deco app reports that all devices have optimal signal strength (100%).

Questions:

  1. Could this issue be related to bandwidth limitations on the MESH network?
  2. How can I evaluate whether the MESH system is being overwhelmed by the cameras' traffic?
  3. Is the Deco M5 sufficient to handle this number of cameras with continuous streaming, or should I consider upgrading my hardware?
  4. Are there specific configurations in the Deco system I should review or optimize to improve traffic handling?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to determine if the issue lies with my MESH network or the Dahua devices.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

May I confirm some information to understand your situation better?

1. Besides two Decos you mentioned, do you have any other network devices in your network topology?

2. Besides dahua NVR and cameras, do you have any client devices connected to the Deco network?

3. What is the bandwidth provided by your ISP? As I am not sure what is the minimum bandwidth your dahua devices required, if you know about it, please share here.

4. Do your dahua devices all connect to the Deco main network? 2.4GHz or 5Ghz band?

5. This troubleshooting guide is for your reference.

Hi  @Marvin_S

Thanks for your quick answer,

1. Besides two Decos you mentioned, do you have any other network devices in your network topology?

No. Just the two Decos. (Modom from the ISP, and then the 2 Decos.

2. Besides dahua NVR and cameras, do you have any client devices connected to the Deco network?

NVR connected through wire, 8 IP cameras through WiFI and 1 computer for testing and configuration.

3. What is the bandwidth provided by your ISP? As I am not sure what is the minimum bandwidth your dahua devices required, if you know about it, please share here.

I have a 700 Mb/s simetric service. But the problem is not with internet, the problem I see it with the internal network. The NVR at the local network cant connect properly with the IP/WiFi cameras.

4. Do your dahua devices all connect to the Deco main network? 2.4GHz or 5Ghz band?

I have disconected the 5Ghz band because the Dahua devices do not support 5.0 GHz band. Just using 2.4 GHz band.

5. This troubleshooting guide is for your reference.

Thanks. All leds are OK, the problem is not with internet access, the problem is INTRAnet.

Thanks again :)
