Although the TD-W8951NB wireless ADSL2+ modem/router has no access point mode to set it to, I was wondering, if it still can act as an access point if connected through wire to the local network. Thanks.

Yes, TD-W8951NB can work as an access point to set up a wireless network by disabling DHCP server and connecting to the primary local network by an Ethernet cable. And you can also change the LAN IP address of TD-W8951NB and make it within the IP range of the primary network.

Thanks. I've installed D-W8951NB as an access point connected to the local network and disabled DHCP, as this functionality is provided by the old modem/router connected to the ADSL line.
