Hi guys!

I've bought 2 decos X50 to replace my eero mesh wifi system.

At first, everything looked fine, but, when I started connecting all my IoT devices to X50 (I created a IoT network for that), the things starting to went bad, because the wi-fi signal became very poor and weak. Many of the devices disconnect and reconnect many times and sometimes some devices can't connect anymore and I need to reset them.

I also tried to "optimize network", but they say they are in the best channels, however, I realized that channel 2 was the most wonderful for my case (in one of my tests, this channel performed really good, with a strong connection), but, how can I change it? I didn't find any place to do this change manually.

I put some devices into my main network to see that this could be a problem with the IoT network, but I realized that the problem seems to be in the 2.4GHz network.

Please, help me.

I have same problem along with very poor ping responses in the network.

Hi, Thank you very much for your time and patience.

Are all the 33 online clients here smart home devices that are connected to the "IOT Network"?

-Can I have their model numbers/brands?

Currently, Deco X50 doesn't support changing wireless channels yet. However if later the wireless channels are confirmed to be the issue, I could escalate the case to the senior engineer for other workarounds.

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

I noticed your model number is Deco XE5300_V1.6. A new 1.4.5 was released a few days ago and could you please manually update to this version to see whether it helps:

https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-xe5300/v1.60/#Firmware

By the way, do you also have a lot of smart home devices(how many?) that are connected to the IOT network?

Did the Ping loss, timed out and spikes x50 issue you commented on mainly occur to the 2.4GHz band?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hi @David-TP

Before I start the firmware update, I'd like to ask you some questions:

1) I noticed your model number is Deco XE5300_V1.6. A new 1.4.5 was released a few days ago and could you please manually update to this version to see whether it helps:

Did you say that the hardware version of my Deco's is 1.60, however, when I was upgrading, the screen showed something different. Can I really upgrade, this difference wasn't brick my Decos?

2) By the way, do you also have a lot of smart home devices(how many?) that are connected to the IOT network?

Regarding my IoT devices, I have something around 30 devices, with brands:

Aqara: Camera G2H (2 devices), Air Conditioning Controller P3 (4 devices)

Sonoff: Camera CAM-S2 (1 device)

Intelbras: Camera iC3 (1 device)

Shelly: Relay 1 (1 device)

Eufy: Camera Indoor Cam (3 devices), HomeBase2 (1 device)

Philips: Hue Sync Box (1 device), TV 65PUG7906/78 (1 device)

Ekaza: Smart Lamp EKHM-T2018SQ (5 devices)

Coibeu: Smart Socket  (1 device), Smart Power Strip (1 device)

NovaDigital: Smart Power Strip (4 devices)

Zemismart: Smart Lamp (3 devices)

Meross: Smart Oil Difuser MOD150 (1 device), Smart Lamp MSL100R (2 devices)

Samsung: Fridge RT53 (1 device)

3) Did the Ping loss, timed out and spikes x50 issue you commented on mainly occur to the 2.4GHz band?

Yes, all this devices above are running in 2.4GHz band into the IoT Network with this specification:

If you need more information, I'll be here!

@David-TP Why does 5G stop working on Deco X10 sometimes? The main router is Deco X50v1.30, connected through a switch.

  @David-TP

Hi David, I am currently running 1.4.1 build 20240722 rel 60491 firmware. I will try to update the firmware to 1.4.5 this weekend. Release notes for 1.4.5 do not indidcate that channel selection or channel width selection features are added so I am not sure how this will help.

I have approximately 50 IOT devices on the main wifi network (not IOT network). These are mainly light switches, motion sensors, etc.. so most devices needed very little bandwidth and for the most part work ok. The issue I have is the poor connectivity for camera streaming due to too much intereference (and channel utilization). Using 40 MHz channel is making the situation worse. I have tried setting up an alternate network with a seprate router that supports 20 MHz channel selection and cameras stream is perfectly. I can potentially live with this solution but this second router is not mesh and hence I cant get the second network to all the places I have camera. Please let me know if you need more information and I will be happy to share. Ideally if TPLINK adds channel selection and channel width selection on 2.4GHz it would make network siginficantly more stable.

finally I am seeing very high ping times on 2.4 GHZ network any where from 200 ms to over 3000ms and multiple ping time outs. these devices stay connected but connection quality is very poor due to interference on the channel. having 50ish devices on 2.4 ghz isnt helping either.

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

Though the 1.4.5 hasn't added the Channel Selection feature, the latest firmware always fixes the previously reported bugs and it is still suggested to keep the firmware up-to-date.

At the same time, I'd like to follow up on your case via email for further assistance.

by the way, for the 3 Deco XE5300, Are they wirelessly connected to the Mesh system?

Can I also have the model numbers of your smart security cameras?

Best regards.

Hi, Nice to see you again.

If possible, it would be better to start a new thread with the current issue.  I don't think it is relevant to this post.

Actually, I can't see from the pictures that the 5G on the Deco X10 is not working.

Were you saying that after rebooting the Deco X10, the 5GHz-connected clients finally connect, and then appear in the "connected clients" list?

-Also for the mysterious "Jinan Jovision Science", do you know what it is? It seems like some smart home devices.

-If you were still on the beta APP-Android 3.8.102, Have you tried to install the latest official APP-3.8.88?
