Deco x50 connection preference no longer available
Deco x50 connection preference no longer available

Hi all,
My Deco X50 used to have "connection preference" option between 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
That option is now GONE from the app's menu.
Can someone help me out? I really need my laptop to be working on 5Ghz only.
thanks!!
steve

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.
The latest 1.6.1 doesn't make any modification to the "Connection Preference". I don't think the current issue is related to the firmware upgrade.
"All my new devices that connect to my deco x50 are using the 2.4 GHz and I can't change it."
-You mentioned "new devices" here. Are the previously connected clients still able to set the preferred WiFi band?
-Did you test whether the similar issue under both "Main WiFi network" and "IOT Network"?
Could you please refer to this link to help me submit the Deco APP log:
By the way, all the Deco units in the Mesh system are Deco X50_V1_1.6.1 and there aren't any other models/firmware versions, right?
Wait for your reply and best regards.

This is very frustrating. This is obviously a firmware update gone bad because my deco x50 had been working perfectly however with this newest firmware I cannot switch between 2.4 and 5 gigahertz. All my new devices that connect to my deco x50 are using the 2.4 GHz and I can't change it. I'm buying another router, you guys have ruined this one!

I've just noticed that I also lost connection preferences for all clients.
Now I only see Family Member, Speed Limit and High Priority options.
I used to have many other options like prefered Deco to connect, mesh on/off, prefered bandwidth...
Firmware version on both Deco x50 I own: 1.6.1 Build 20241010 Rel. 65389
Probably this has changed since the last update, and I only noticed now.
Can someone from tp-link tell me what caused this?
I appreciate the help.

@ Joey: You are missing the Desired Connection menu in a Deco client? Like this menu? ("Gewenste verbinding = Desired Connection where you set 2,4 or 5 ghz)

@JanRekenaar yes exactly. The difference is that I'm using the android app. Now I wonder if the issue is the android app because I was using iOS some time ago.

@JanRekenaar I'm still having the same problem.
My screenshot speaks for itself.
What is going on TP-Link?

@stevensgl @David-TP this seems to be a bug in 1.6.1 or in the app? I am still on 1.5.1, have not seen any 1.6.1 announcement in app yet. Should I upgrade?

I'm on version 1.6.1.
The connection preference option sometimes appears and later goes away. Not sure if it's a firmware bug or a software bug, but it is clearly a BUG. I hope Tp-Link's Devs could take a look at it.
