BE85 v1 Latest Firmware Version
BE85 v1 Latest Firmware Version
I am slightly confused about the latest firmware for DECO BE85 v1
The link from the support page suggest that this link is for both v1 and v2 hardware can this be correct?
Firmware Download Link:
Deco BE85_V1/V2 | Deco BE85_V2_1.1.1_241023.zip |
The BE85 device updater does not offer any later firmware than 1.0.20 Build 20240815 Rel 55509
So which one is correct?

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.
The latest firmware for Deco BE85_V1 is 1.1.1.
Deco firmware gradually rolls out in waves based on the MAC Address and so far 1.1.1 version hasn't been 100% released. So some users might still be unable to detect this version on the Deco App.
Best regards.

Whilst the links and image name suggests that the hardware is V2, it appears that the software train for V1 and V2 is the same.
I have hardware version V1 and installed this update and it worked.
As mentioned above I had a few issues but after a lot of investigation and a lot of tweaking I finally have all the features I am using working well.
So - This is the correct firmware for hardware V1 as well and it works for me

Hi, which support page do you refer to?
Deco web UI would report an error if you manually upload the wrong firmware and refuse to proceed with the firmware upgrade. For Deco BE85, V1 and V2 did share the same firmware download link.
Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

I have just rechecked the support page here
Download for Deco BE85 | TP-Link United Kingdom
If you download this firmware the file is not for v1 but it is for v2 as follows
Deco BE85_V2_1.1.1_241023
So it would seem the link is incorrect
https://static.tp-link.com/upload/firmware/2024/202411/20241125/Deco%20BE85_V2_1.1.1_241023.zip
So, it's not possible to download the v1 firmware here.
I also checked the Dutch website and that too has an incorrect link to v2

I installed this - sent to me by tp-link staff after me helping them solving a problem in the vpn client
My hardware version is v1 and I was sent this exact file (v2) by tp-link so I installed it
Whilst most everything is working the vpn client stopped working completely and even the behaviour is erratic causing a lot of problems in the network
So, whilst tp-link says on their support page that this file is for v1 and v2... Something is not right
I have my be85s running this now and they are not operating properly.
Again this was sent to me by tp-link support and now they don't answer to me to fix my problem
The vpn client was working and now it just doesn't work at all - when you select clients to be on the vpn client list... As soon as the vpn connects the traffic from these clients is blocked. Something is missing maybe a firewall rule or something but the fact is that it doesn't work
I also am unable to rollback to a previous firmware - I believe because this is V2 and the other firmwares are. V1 so some checks are happening and the rollback doesn't work.
Please tp-link. Hiw can I fix this? Vpn client is a massive feature for me and without it I can't work and my network is unusable. Please let me know how to fix it or at least how to rollback to a previous working version
Thank you
Nuno

Wow that's really bad..why would TP-Link Tech send you the wrong file for your hardware...
Check my posts, I've not been able to find v1 latest firmware anywhere....so there's no way I'm trying v2 on v1 hardware.
The worst thing is there's no way back, as you found out.
Come on TP-Link soirt this out...
Update..I just checked the download page again and the link is still wrong....

Yes this was sent to me by tp-link themselves as I helped them sort out a few issues in the vpn client feature and they sent me this as it was the first version where the fixes would be in
Yes... No fixes and now I'm screwed
Don't get me wrong... The device is not bricked. It works fine for most settings... Just a few that I'm finding some issues but they are very specific as I'm a network guy and push these things quite hard. Being that this firmware should contain my fix for the vpn client.... Whilst it does contain it, it introduces a new bug whish is traffic blackhauling... Which is as bad as the vpn client not connecting. The result is the same 🤷

Can we get some answers here please for all of us in the UK? As pointed out it seems some of us have installed a v2 firmware as the v1 page links to the wrong file.

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/deco-be85/v1/#Firmware
This link is on the global page from which I was going to download the firmware, but I finally noticed that the name of the file belongs to the second version, while I own the first version.
