As the current 5G network is still in development, the coverage may be limited in some areas. Therefore, it's crucial to find an optimal location for your Deco X50-5G to ensure reliable 5G NR signal reception.

First, How to check the quality of the current network signal

  • The LED status on the Deco X50-5G- Make sure it is solid white.

  • The Internet Status on the Deco APP- RSRP/RSRQ/SNR

To address issues with cellular base station coverage and potential signal interference from nearby sources, we could try the following suggestions:

1. Insert the SIM card into the mobile phone, and then walk around the house to check the signal strength on the software.

  • For Android, a third-party software - Cellular-Z APP is very useful for viewing the current service cell signals(RSSI/RSRP/RSRQ and more)

  • For IOS, please refer to the iPhone Field Test to check detailed technical information about the device's cellular signal strength, connection quality, and other related data.

2. After finding a suitable location, you could also lock the current cell ID/band to further improve the mobile signal.

3. Use external antennas.

If there happens to be a power socket near the ideal spot in your home, it would be a fortune for Deco X50-5G. However, outdoor signals are often stronger than indoor ones. Fortunately, the Deco X50-5G supports external antennas and it would be beneficial to mount a pair of antennas on the roof.

Deco X50-5G 700MHz~2690MHz & 3300MHz~4200MHz N1/N3/N5/N7/N8/N20/N28/N38/N40/N41/N77/N78 RP-SMA-F Antenna Ports

@David-TP I simply located my area's 5G mast via Google street view and measured the distance and calculated the correct angle in relation to my property of where best to place the X50-5G. Locating the X50-5G on the highest floor will give you optimum speeds, as the signal has less solid objects to penetrate through. In my case other homes, conservatories, sheds, garages etc.. By placing the X50-5G on the first floor by the window, it gives the router and mast more of a direct line of sight. If I place my X50-5G in my study which is on the ground floor and the furtherest part of the house, I barely get any signal. But if I place the X50-5G router on the first floor and by the window opposite the 5G mast, I can get up to 500Mbps off-peak.

If people go onto the cellular providers website, they can enter their postcodes/zip codes to see a maps of the signal strength. Find the epicenter of the signal and use that the determine where the 5G mast is. Once the mat has been located, use Google Earth's measuring tool to determine the distance, angle and elevation for optimum router location.

Hope that helps.
