Model: Archer BE230
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20240912 rel.12553(4555)

I recently purchased a archer BE230 wifi router and I was excited for the usb port because I could use some network storage but a NAS would be excessive and too expensive, but I ran into an issue; I have been able to set up the smb share with no issue but I also have a PC off network and I would want it to have acces to this storage as well but everytime I try to add a network location it just won't connect giving me the attached error, but if I use a ftp program it works like a charm, what am I doing wrong?

blacked out is my dns address

This is happening on windows 11

Hi  @BLABLA03

To enable and access the USB drive attached to the Router, please log in the router's web management interface and go to Advanced > USB > USB storage device. Enable the drive that you want to share to the network.
After that, you should be able to access the USB Sharing folders over the network, here are the instructions for accessing the USB Sharing from different client device:
Access USB storage device on the TP-Link Routers from Windows
Please double-check if your settings and access method are correct.

  @Joseph-TP

Everything is turned on and as I said I CAN access it like an smb share but not as an ftp server, also the link you attached is unfortunately not working

  Hi@BLABLA03

Not sure why the link can't be accessed. Please see this link: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/253/

From the FAQ you will see specific instructions for accessing ftp, and your way is more like map a USB drive in the windows system

  @Joseph-TPThe FAQ you sent is clearly about connecting to an smb share not a ftp server

  @YuriyB

as mentioned above dedicated ftp clients connect just fine with some giving me a message that it doesn't support TLS(not sure if it is the right name) encryption, in other news I managed to connect to it and add a network location on a different machine, can it be my antivirus blocking it? it is the only obvious differences between the two machines.
