Archer C9 v1 - safe to run on 8+ year firmware?
Archer C9 v1 - safe to run on 8+ year firmware?
Hi my Archer C9 has been extremely reliable but hasn't had a firmware update since May 2016.
Given the patches that Linux has had since then, recent issues found by DLink and the number of firmware updates other routers get, is it safe to continue to run please?
BTW, I use the C9 as a router from my Virgin cable box with a BT whole home mesh network providing
any advice gratefully received
kind regards Malc

Before more people respond and say that an 8 years old firmware has security holes and bug and that @Digiteeruk should definitely update the firmware of the Archer C9 v1, let me say again that the last firmware version of the Archer C9 v1 is from 2015.
Therefore, the recommendation should be that you should replace the Archer C9 v1 with another, more recent router and not that he should install the current firmware of the Archer C9 v1.
