Deco x50-poe and x1500-4g setup
Hello all.
My current setup is ISP router into a x50-poe ( all the connections are done by cable ) x50-poe into a POE switch that than shares the internet with 2 more x50-poe units.
I would like to add x1500-4G to the setup as a 4G backup if my cable internet goes bananas.
Can I make it adding the x1500-4g and connecting it to the switch where the main x50 is connected to get power and share internet with the other x50?
Thanks for all
Your help 😀

Super David, the QOS was what was limiting the internet speed. I will run a few tests. I hope I have no problem with my ISP router

Hi, welcome to the community.
Deco X1500-4G does support 3G/4G backup mode but it only works when Deco X1500-5G is the main Deco, instead of the Deco X50-POE.
How to set up 3G/4G or 4G/5G Backup on Deco router
So now, the current network topology needs to be changed a little bit:
ISP router---Deco X1500-4G---<cable>---POE switch---3*X50-POEs
Thank you very much and best regards.

i bought the X50-5G, assuming that the X50 line will share all the same Features. Surprise surprise no IOT network is available. The IOT network will be available on the next release ?

Hi, Thanks for the update.
I noticed you have updated to the 1.2.0 version of Deco X50-5G which has added the IOT network.
By the way, for the CPU usage issue, did it only start after updating to 1.2.0?
Can I have more details of " Blocking my access to the internet"? Would any Deco turn red? Do you need to restart the X50-5G to restore the internet connection?
-By the way, are the 3*Deco X50-POEs still connected to the same POE switch, then to the main Deco X50-5G?
-Could you please email support.forum@tp-link.com with a copy of the web UI system log(please add the forum ID 713618 in the subject, Thank you in advance)?
Wait for your reply and best regards.

So my setup is x50-5g connected to the router in access point mode, then x50-5g into switch poe that was also 2 in the future 3 x50-poe.
To activate the 4G/5G backup how I do it?
I can’t use bridge mode due to ISP limitation

Hi, Thanks for the system logs.
Deco in AP mode doesn't support 4/5G Backup and it needs to work in Wireless router mode.
If you can't use bridge mode on the ISP router, I think you could try to disable the WiFi on the ISP router, and then still set Deco X50-5G into Wireless Router" mode.
The recommended topology would be like:
ISP modem router(With Wi-Fi off)---<cable>----Deco X50-5G---POE switch---2* Deco X50-POEs
Wait for your reply and best regards.

@David-TP I also would like to know if I can use the 5G backup on bridge mode. I can always change ISP provider 😊

Hi, Deco X50-5G can't use 4/5G Backup mode either on Bridge mode. It needs to be worked as the NAT gateway/DHCP router.
Since Deco X50-5G is also a wireless router, maybe you could consider replacing the ISP modem router with Deco X50-5G if the ISP internet terminal has an Ethernet output.
"If I do that, my Deco wifi speed drops from 100 to 1 or 2. So I would say it doesn't work :| Is there something I should configure on the ISP router to allow that configuration to work, besides turning the wifi off ( I already did that)?"
- I think you could also check the QOS settings on the Deco X50-5G when it is in wireless router mode in case it was set to a lower bandwidth.
Best regards.
