Model: Deco X50 - PoE
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.5

I need to increase range of WiFi from a Deco X50-POE to reach one smart thermostat. Because its one device I would like low cost but also want reliable wife strength for this one device. For example will the TP-Link AC750 WiFi Extender (RE220) be able to extend the range of the Deco WiFi?

The house has the two pack of the Deco X50-POE with both being connected to a Ethernet poe switch and handling WiFi for the house. Everything works except one thermostat keeps disconnecting from the wifi. I have swapped the thermostats (Mysa) between rooms and its consistently the one room that is the problem. the Thermostat is wifi only and the room its in has an ethernet port not being used. Luckily phones and smart bulbs in that same room all work fine and show strong signal.

Because its just one device I don't want the overkill of a 3rd Deco X50-PO and was looking at something like the RE220. Will that work or is there a better option?

If you have Ethernet port in that room, which is connected to the rest of your home LAN, there is another option.

Get the most inexpensive 2.4GHz WiFi router you could find. In my region that would be TP-Link N300 WiFi Router (TL-WR841N).

Configure it just like regular router. Make sure it has different SSID from your Deco mesh. This is obvious but often not understood part: this router SSID must not be the same as any of SSIDs from Deco mesh WiFi networks.

Connect router's WAN port with Ethernet cable to in room Ethernet port. Configure smart thermostat to connect to router SSID. You now have 2.4 GHz WiFi network just for that one smart thermostat.

Me too, and I checked its price on Amazon Canada yesterday.

Usually smart thermostat apps work with thermostat through the cloud, meaning just configuring this router as router should be enough. In case app requires direct access to thermostat through your network, you may need to configure that router in AP mode. I checked its specs, it supports AP mode. This is a bit of extra work, but if required you do it once and will forget about it.

thank you for the suggestion the TP-Link N300 worked great and the Mysa is no longer losing wifi connection.
