Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.5 Build 20240718 Rel. 44414

Hi hope somebody can help me here. I am using two Deco X55 units to have Mesh wifi in my home, using one of the units as router. I have 900Mbps internet speed at home, I configured the ISP router in bridge mode, so it only works as ONT, I use one of the X55 as main router (of course in "Router Mode"), connected to this ISP router in bridge mode. The other X55 is in another room and has a wire backhaul connection, so the second X55 is also wired. Everything works fine, I have internet with both the wire and Wifi network, in fact if I do a speed test with my wired PC that is connected by wire in the other room where the second X55 is, I get around 940Mbs download, so the wired network works and has the expected speed.

The wifi also works, but the issue comes with its speed, if I make a speed test with my Samsung A54 5G phone, connected with wifi 6 as the little wifi indication in the phone has a little 6, I get between 370 to 410Mbps, this with the phone directly besides the X55 module to whitch it is linked (I am positive sure I am doing the test with the X55 linked to the phone). I made the same test with both modules and also with other phone, getting similar results.

This speed is better than the one I got before, yes, but reading this last days many web reviews of this X55 devices, for my surprise I saw that in their speed tests they get speeds between 700 to 800Mbps, much more higher than the ones I get with mine.

Looking these data I assumed something could be wrong with my units or network layout, althougth all was working, so to test I changed the network and removed the bridge mode to the ISP router and made the speed tests with a more usual/standard configuration with the main X55 connected to the normal ISP router acting as main/access router, both in "Router mode" and "Access point mode", this layouts also worked, but the speed results were similar not arriving to 450Mbps.

So, are my 370 to 450Mbps speed from a 900Mbps internet an expected Wifi speed (with both X55 wired)???, why this review guys get much higher speeds?, could I be limiting my speed in some way?

Thanks

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

You may check link speed on your Samsung phone referring to this guide and share the screenshot of the result here

It is suggested to read this guide to troubleshoot, according to your description.

  @Marvin_S

Hi Marvin, I attach the screen with the Link speed of my phone while connected to the Wifi network of the Deco X55, this results are with my phone 2 or 3 cm from the unit, so literally besides it:

Maybe I am wrong, but for this Link speed I assume both devices (my phone and the Deco unit) should be able to potencially go till 1200Mbps, so I guess there is no limitation there.

Also I put here also the results of the speed test, also 2 or 3 cm from the unit, the results are similar in the main or satellite deco:

Just for your knowledge, as my original post indicated I had my ISP router in Bridge mode and I was using the main Deco as unique router. Just for your information, I also tested using my ISP router as main router and having the Deco main unit in Router mode and also tested in Acces Point mode, in all the three cases the results are the same.

Also tested reseting the Deco units to the factory state and reconfigure them from scratch, the same results.

Regarding the article you linked me (https://www.tp-link.com/es/support/faq/3075/), what I see is this article is just to explain why if you have a wifi connexion between units the satellite one will have slower speeds, and if you connect by wire both units the speed should be the same. In my case as explained in my original post I have both with a wired backhaul, so I have more or less the same speed. this is the only thing this article explains.

In related articles section yes there is a link that address my issue of slow speed (https://www.tp-link.com/es/support/faq/2429/), here the results of the required steps:

- The Decos are in open places, not closed cabinets or similar.

- All Ethernet cables are CAT6, so ok for 1Gps

- My phone supports Wifi 6, you have the model in my original post, also there is a little 6 in the wifi signal icon, and also the link speed I guess states the phone is able to communicate at 1 Gps.

- I attach above the results of Ookla test.

- As explained in my first post, the PC I have wired to the ISP router has a 930/960 Mbps speed (with the same Ookla test), so the ISP do provide the promised 1Gps speed.

- I made the speed test disconnecting all other items, including wifi and wired items and also any other satellite Deco unit, so in the network there was only the main Deco and my phone, the speed results were the same.

- I checked in Deco App and all items in the network are connected to the right Deco module.

So this steps did not solved the problem.

I copy bellow the network info of my PC as it is requested in this web pg, but remember my PC is connected by wire and it has the right speed:

There is also other pg related to my issue (https://www.tp-link.com/es/support/faq/3670/), below the results of the steps required there:

- As said before I tested and my ISP provides the 1Gbps promised.

- I configured all the Deos as main one getting the same results, all of them got me the same slow speed.

- QoS is disabled.

- UPNP and SIP ALG are disabled.

- I tested with 5 diferent speed test services, including the ones recomended by you, all gave the same slow result.

- I use WifiAnalyser App on my phone to check the wifi chanels use in my building, below the results (My wifi is called BAHIA):

There is also other web pg addressing the issue of a slow speed in a satellite module (https://www.tp-link.com/es/support/faq/3671/), but there only recommend to conect by wire the satellite, and as stated I already have that done.

So with all the tests I was able to find in your web the issue still remains, please tell me what to do now.

Regards
