Model: Deco X50 - PoE
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.5

I am hoping for some advice please.

My current Deco setup has an X50poe as the main unit in Access Point mode.  I would like to change this to WiFi Router mode to enable me to have access to the additional functionality that this offers.

Currently my full set up is Internet DSL into a VDSL modem which has DHCP switched on and acts as the gateway on 192.168.1.1.   From the modem there is an RJ45 cable to the X50poe - does it matter which connection is used on the X50poe?     From the second connection on the X50poe there is a hardwire to a switch enabling connection to other devices.  The X50poe also connects via WiFi to other devices.

My thinking is that to change from Access Point mode, I need to select WiFi Router mode in the Deco App and reboot the system.   I would then need to switch off DHCP on my router and ensure this is switched on within the Deco App.

Is there any specific order that this needs to be done?     I would like to try and ensure I retain the LAN IP range of 192.168.1.1xxx.   Does the VDSL modem continue toi act as the Gateway?

I would appreciate if someone more knowledgeable sowledeable than I could just confirm the steps I need to take and in what order.

Very many thanks

Alex

Hi, and thanks for your post and advice.

I switched back to WiFi Router mode and everything seems to have reconnected to my network.

Interestingly, I havent switched off DHCP on my ISP dsl modem which is still accessed via IP 192.168.1.1. and when I look at the Deco App, LAN IP I see that it has allocated 192.168.0.1 and that all of my devices are in the range of 192.168.0.xxx.   Not quite sure why it didnt go for 192.168.68.xxx but as everything seems to be working, I think I will leave well alone !!

Once again, thanks for your help

Kindest Regards

  @DevonAlex

Hi, It is suggested to switch back to "Wireless Router" mode before turning off the DHCP(setting to Bridge Mode) on the ISP DSL modem router.

The default IP address of Deco is 192.168.68.1 and could be changed under Deco APP>More>Advanced>LAN IP if you plan to keep the previous LAN IP range.

And the Ethernet ports on the Deco X50-POE are the same. It doesn't matter which one is connected to connect to the modem.

Thank you very much and best regards.
