Model: Deco
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0

Hi all

I've read through multiple threads & followed the app support but no joy. I set up the Deco M4R Ver 2.0 which worked well downstairs in the house, but very limited upstairs due to mass concrete walls and floors.

Modem - router - main deco - 3x remote deco's.

My modem is located in the garage and connected via cat6 to the house.

However there isn't enough ports on the router to feed the house (I've cat6's feeding each room from the router location). Plus with the above set up, I've no WiFi in the garage.

So, my new set up is:

Modem - TP link 8 port TL-SG108 - feed to garage wifi (working well) and house - TP Link 16 port switch TL-SG1016D - main deco (connected via cat6 to a wall port). That's where the problems start. The main deco now won't connect to the Internet despite using the same port and cable as before.

I've changed ports, changed cables, changed deco's (I bought 4), rebooted / restarted the deco's, cleared the previous saved network etc etc.

The switches seem to be working fine. I've confirmed Internet in the house wall ports.

When setting up the main deco, all works fine up until the "Setting up your network" step. The LED turns from blue to red and cannot make any progress from there.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

For troubleshooting, simplify your setup: bring Main Deco to garage, connect it directly to the modem/router. Does that work?

If it does, connect Main Deco to TP link 8 port TL-SG108 in garage with short Ethernet cable - does that work?

Now take Main Deco to the house and connect it to the cable which comes from garage to TP Link 16 port switch TL-SG1016D. You will need to unplug TL-SG1016D from that cable and connect Main Deco to it.

If this works, now plug TL-SG1016D back and connect Main Deco to one of its ports using short Ethernet cable.

------------

I think, you've got the idea now: step by step tracing where the failure point it.

  @Alexandre.

Thanks for the quick reply. Wasn't expecting that. I reset the deco & connected directly to the modem in the garage as you suggested, went through the setup and the result was the same. As soon as it gets to "Setting up your network" it drops from blue to red.

Have gone out with a 2nd Deco, different power supply, different cable & got the same result again.

Is it possible Internet is down at your place?

If not, this is as far as I can assist. You may wish to contact TP-Link Support, now that you simplified your setup they may be able to assist.

Wifi in the house using the old router, speedtest shows 360Mb download. Garage shows 600Mb. Internet is working, Deco's are not. Customer support just points here.
