I'm not completely sure of the specifications of the power line however it says it supports 1000mbps I have 2 lines on my router 1 for 2.4 and 1 or 5. However when using the device it connects to the 2.4 giving me a slower speed when I payed extra for the extra power. Is there anyway to fix this and have it connect to the 5 network for better speeds?

I am not sure what you mean by 2.4 and 5 lines, but as long as you connect the Ethernet cable from the TL-PA7017P into a "Gigabit" Ethernet port of your router then you are fine.
A router with 2.5 Gigabit or 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports wouldn't make the TL-PA7017P any faster.
Just make sure you are not plugging into a 100 Mbit Fast-Ethernet port.
