Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I am looking to solve an issue in our house, which is that no matter where I place the 2 satellite X50's (I am limited to one location for the main one) the signal to our living room is always awful.  I assume this is down to it being in an extension and so with thick walls with insulation.

Before hacking open all my walls to add in ethernet ports which I really don't want to do, my last option is to add in a powerline P9 to the living room instead of the X50.  As I have disabled the router's wifi, how do I configure this?  Do I simply plug one P9 into the main deco X50 (plugged into the wall, not an extension cable) and one in the living room, or one into the router itself and one in the living room?

I did also check here - https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/657324 so I know it shoudl be possible in theory, but just want to double check on the best way to do this.

Thanks!

  @Hiphopopotamus

Hi,

Yes, the thick walls with insulation would affect the wireless radio between Deco units, and that could be the possible reason why the signal in the living room is not good enough as expected.

The connection you mentioned should be possible.

The two Deco P9 units need to be added to the existing Deco network first, and here is the guidance for you.

And owerline Backhaul doesn't need to be turned on by any hardware or software switch. But please make sure the two units work within one power circuit. General Questions about the Powerline or PLC Backhaul Feature of Deco

  @Sunshine thanks for your reply.

Just to confirm then, one p9 should be connected to the main x50 instead of the router, correct?
