Deco Internet Backup Feature Guide
Internet Backup keeps the Deco Mesh system always online by switching to a backup network when the original ISP network is disconnected to ensure constant internet access. There are 3 backup modes available and only one mode can be enabled at a time.
How to enable Internet Backup
- Open your Deco app, and go to More > Advanced >Internet Backup.
- or Go to More > Internet Connection > Internet Backup.
Hotspot Backup Mode
Allow Deco to connect to a hotspot backup network wirelessly, like your mobile hotspot, or other secured wireless networks nearby.
How to enable Hotspot Backup Mode
1. Set a fixed WAN port
2. Select a nearby hotspot for network backup.
3. (Optional) Edit the Advanced Hotspot Backup settings
- Add multiple wireless networks to the Hotspot List.
- Set Speed Limit and Access Permission.
Both 4G/5G Backup and Hybrid Mesh Backup Modes require having an extra Deco 4G/5G model in the Mesh system, such as Deco X50-5G.
4G/5G Backup Mode
The Deco 4G/5G model is set as the main Deco and works in wireless router mode. Actually, this Internet Backup method is not dedicated to the Deco X50/X55_1.6.0 firmware and many Deco 4G/5G routers already support this feature.
For more details, please refer to How to set up 3G/4G or 4G/5G Backup on Deco router.
Hybrid Mesh Backup Mode
The Deco 4G/5G model is set as the satellite Deco and works in wireless router mode. It is very useful when Deco X50 is the main Deco and Deco X50-5G is added as the satellite unit. After the primary network is restored, Deco will automatically switch back to the ISP cable service.
How to enable Hybrid Mesh Backup Mode
1. Set a fixed WAN port under More > Advanced > WAN Port.
2. Configure 4G/5G Backup settings

@David-TP Hi, my X50's are on 1.6.0, which is weird because I installed the update it through the app. I assumed by this that it was publicly available but apparently it is still beta. I don't know why my Deco's installed this from the app though. I used to have the 1.5.5 beta build installed but I did a fresh public install later, but somehow it seems like it is still on a "beta" channel. Any idea how to set it so it only installs public firmware versions?
As for 1.6.0, it is running well for me! It is set up as AP so I can't test every setting, but the bug where the total network speed will always display 0 has been resolved so I am happy!
