Note:
1. It is recommended that all Decos in the network be upgraded to beta firmware.
2. Please also check whether there is a firmware update for the Tapo device in the Tapo APP. If so, please update the Tapo device to the latest firmware.
3. How to update the satellite Deco units:
When the satellite Decos are offline, they may not be successfully upgraded through the Web UI. In this case, it is recommended to upgrade according to the following steps:
- Please temporarily power off most of the smart home devices and wait for the satellite Deco come back online.
- Once all the satellite Deco units are confirmed online, try upgrading to the beta firmware again through the Web UI.
-If the main Deco and satellite Deco units are on different models, you could also update the satellite units individually through its IP address.
- After ensuring that all Deco units have been successfully upgraded, power on the Tapo devices again and observe if the issue is resolved.

As much as I want this fixed. I'm not sure I would trust any update on this network device and don't want to have to go through all that again.
Currently looking for a good alternative as I now have to get the network into my office. My original plan was to buy an extra P9 but not after these last few months.
It would be nice if they open up the software/firmware to open source and let ooenwrt have a go as they are not far off getting it working and don't really care about all these devices. They are struggling with the Poe part of the P9.

I have been running the Beta SW for my Deco M9 for 6 months now. I get messages about a new Firmware version available and that I should upgrade.
I am running the version which maintains visibility on connected Decos shared in this article as a solution
1.6.3_build_20240715_Beta |
And the latest available for download is
Deco M9 Plus(EU)_V2.20_1.6.4 Build 20240718
Has the fix included in the Beta version been added to the 1.6.4 Release? If not, is there a timeline for this to be included?
I am trying to configure IPTV/VLAN and no matter what configuration I enter in the app it does not allow me to save it, wondering if I am hitting a bug on the Beta version I am running.
Thanks
Guillermo

Hi, the official 1.6.4 hasn't added the bug fix here but the next version 1.8.0 would.
And I just updated another new firmware which has fixed the issue here and it was based on the official 1.6.4.
Thank you very much and best regards.

How do you suggest I power off all of my TP link smart switches that are throughout the house? I have way too many automation devices for this to be feasible.

Hi, can I have the model number as well as the firmware version of your Deco?
You can also update the main Deco first, then switch one of the satellite units as the main Deco and update it again:
How to replace the main Deco with another Deco
Or even though the satellite units are offline on the Deco APP, you can check the arp tables to find the current IP address of the satellite unit; then log into its ndividual web interface via the IP address:
Best regards.
