I'm thinking of buying home shield pro on my home network that has  deco x50's. I have another office network using the same TPLink account but running on M5's. Will the home shield pro that I am using on my home network work on my office network or do I need to buy a different subscription. Btw, the office network only has less than 10 devices

  @Val_D

Hi, welcome to the community.

Deco M5 doesn't support HomeShield Pro so your could still use the same TP-link ID to subscribe HomeShield Pro.

More details about HomeShield subscription, please refer to General questions about HomeShield Subscription Service

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP

Hi together,

I started a paid subscription for Home Shield Pro to have an advanced protection of my children against being spoiled by Youtube and other online stuff, especially to avoid distraction from school/ homework.

But by using my Archer AX55 router it is not working properly.

I performed the following steps to have a first trial with my MS Surface Pro 11.

  • Creating a new profile with name and age (e.g. Admin_test, 10 years old)
  •  Assigning a device: I have chosen my personal device for the first initial confirmation if it works properly
  • Configuration of family profile:
    • As first step I added "Youtube" as a keyword to the blocked webpage to block all URL's containing this keyword
    • to be sure that Youtube is reliably blocked I used the "Webfilter" and decided to block the categories "Adult Content" and "Streaming & Media" in the list
    • additionally I configured "Blocked Apps" to block all applications listed in the "Streaming & Media" category
    • all other items such as bed time, time limit or free time are not configured/ turned off

However, when checking the proper functionality of this Home Shield configuration I found out that it is absolutely not working.

YouTube can be used as before and even if I configure Home Shield to block social media like Facebook or Instagram, it remains unchanged, so that the Homepages which should be blocked are still accessible.

What is my mistake?

I am quite disappointed so far, especially since I am even paying for an extended functionality and the basics are not working yet.

Maybe I have a wrong configuration.

I am thankful for any advice.

Cheers,

Gordon
