Hello,

I have an annoying issue with the Deco X55 mesh (x3) connected to a Starlink. The Starlink Modem is on bypass mode. Everything works fine with a fresh reset / installation. However my area suffers from frequent power outages, and I suspect the frequent restarts are causing some issue. This is the third time in two months this has happened.

My ping (speedtest) when working correctly is around 80 ms, and I hit download speeds up to 250 mbps.

After the power outages (situation now) my ping will go up to 200-500 ms and download speeds cap around 10-80 mbps. In other words the connections turns very unstable. I tried assigning a static IP to Starlink with no effect, so far the only way I have managed to recover a stable connection on deco router is resetting everything. I am sure the problem source is the main Deco router, but can't figure out what is causing it.

The issue only arises with the main deco router, somehow the 2 mesh extenders are unaffected. So good ping and download speeds on the other two deco mesh connected to main router.

Any ideas?

Hi, Welcome to the community.

Do you use Starlink Gen 1 or 2?

For the satellite Deco X55s, are they wirelessly connected to the main Deco X55?

--- I noticed you mentioned that "The issue only arises with the main deco router, somehow the 2 mesh extenders are unaffected". Usually if the main Deco speed suffered, the speed on the satellite Deco would be reduced as well. So I wonder when the main Deco X55 is around 80 ms / 250 mbps, how about the ping/speed test on the satellite Deco?

When the power restored, have you also tested the Starlink Dish performance on the Starlink APP or connect a computer directly to the Starlink modem to check the speed directly from the Starlink modem?

Thank you very much and best regards.

Thank you for your reply.

Its a gen 2 starlink.

When everything functions "normally" I get the best results on the main deco, i.e. 80 ms and 250 mbps. One of the sattelites in 5gz reach comes out with a slightly higher ping and around 100-180 mbps, the sattelite on 2.4 gz also slighty higher ping (84-86) and 80-100mbps.

When the issue I mention occurs only the main deco suffers, the sattelites retain the same results mentioned above. The sattelites are connected with wifi to the main deco.

Its really weird because as you mention you'd expect the sattelites to suffer with the main deco. It seems to be something between the main deco and starlink, because when the issue occurs the starlink also shows inconsistent results through the app.

As said, a reset (restarting doesnt help) of the deco's resolves the issue (I dont need to change anything on on reset the starlink).

Hi, Thank you very much for your time and patience.

I couldn't figure out what happened either.

Have you tried to disable "Bypass Mode" on the Stalink router, and set Deco X55 into Access Point mode to see whether it helps:

How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode

By the way, if restarting Deco couldn't reduce the ping and improve the speed, will a reboot of Starlink router make any difference to the ping/download speed?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Rebooting all the machines including starlink doesnt resolve the issue. I havent tried acces point mode, but I assume it will resolve the issue. Not ideal because I purchased the deco for the router configuration options...

Tried Acces Point and have the same issue with the Main Deco. Sattelites are ok. I tried switching the deco to see if device was faulty, but didnt resolve. Main deco keeps having the same described issues.

The main deco is relatively more stable on the 2.4 ghz band (100 ms and 80-100mbps download). However I still get better results on the sattelite (both 2.4ghz and 5ghz band).... i have no neighbours so no interference.

Ethernet connection to the main deco seems fine (220 mbps download).
