300Mbps N adapter only works in 54Mbps G mode

Hi
It is recommended that you go to Control Panel --- Network and sharing center-- change adapter settings(on the left side)
Right click on Wireless network connection --- Status --- Properties
Then highlight Client for Microsoft Networks--- Configure.
At last, choose 802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4 and choose Value as Auto, then click OK.

Hi
TL-WN881ND has been sold for many years and it is for sure that the maximum wireless connection rate could reach 300m/s. However, the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band is susceptible to interference from other wireless signals on the same frequency.
To achieve a speed of 300Mbps, it's important to ensure optimal signal conditions:
1. please try to modify the 2.4GHz settings of the Host router, such as channel 11/channel width 40MHz.
2. Put the wireless adapter next to the Host router
3. Manually install the following driver if your pc is Win10: TL-WN881ND V2 Windows10
For more information you could refer to the following links:

Also, if you don't mind sharing, could you let me know when you purchased the adapter and when you first noticed the issue occurring?
Warm regards.

Hi
Since the TL-WN881ND was end of life and is unlikely to receive any driver updates, it may not be fully compatible with your current computer system. Considering the need of high throughput for file transfer and the consistent support for 5GHz by the host router, the TL-WN881ND is no longer suitable and updating to the dual-band Wi-Fi 5 or WI-Fi 6 adapter is strongly recommended.
