Hi, welcome to the community.
There are 3 three Ethernet ports on the Deco X50-5G. Have you tested other two Ethernet ports?
It is also suggested to replace with a new Ethernet cable to connect the network switch to Deco X50-5G.
And did Deco X50-5G work in 5G SIM router mode? How about the LED light on the Deco X50-5G, solid green or white?
Wait for your reply and best regards.

Thank you for the reply. The router is in 5g mode. I have tried all three ports, different cables, different switches and computers which I know work. Unfortunately nothing at all? The light is solid white.

Hi, Did the WiFi from Deco X50-5G work well?
Have you enabled IPTV/VLAN under Deco APP>More>Advanced?
(please keep it disabled if not needed.)
For the computer, when it is wired to one for the Deco X50-5G, have you checked whether it could receive an IP address from Deco X50-5G?
(please make sure there is no static IP configured.)
How to find IP address on your devices
Wait for your reply and best regards.

I have managed to borrow a tp link sg1008p switch and this is working with the x50.

Thank you for the update, I truly appreciate it. I was feeling quite confused as well. It's possible that the original switch is showing signs of aging and may have a loose connection causing the issue.
Have you tried to connect the original switch behind TL-SG1008P to see what happened, such as:
Deco X50-5G---TL-SG1008P---the original switch.
Best regards.
