I made a post yesterday asking about what seems to be a glaring omission from the Deco firmware, they don't resolve local network names. Was hoping for a resolution but the post seems to have disappeared. Not sure whether I don't know how to operate the search or if we're not allowed to point out (what should be easy to fix) technical shortcomings of these routers? Anyone else seen their posts disappear here?

  @TheInternet

Hi, Thank you very much for your feedback.

Your first post is on the community/us:

https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/678064

Deco doesn't support local DNS resolution. If the LAN devices support mDNS themselves, we don't need a router to resolve the local domains and they are already able to locate each other under the same network.

Best regards.

I totally agree. Both the deco firmware and application has a lot of shortcomings (infrequent or non frequent firmware updates.)

And I believe we are not going to see a solution to this or any issue for that matter, anytime soon.

Definitely seems strange that standard functionality for a 20 dollar router is omitted from a 300 dollar router. If the firmware is based on Linux like 99% of other routers, this should be trivial to implement. I was under the impression that Decos were aimed at the plug and play market and should work without much config. Requiring me to set up a local DNS server doesn't seem to be very in line with that.
