Deco M5 replacement -> BE85
Hi,
I recently have fiber to home, my setup is as follow, Fiber -> ONT -> Deco M5 (main) as router ( PPP connection +VLAN 10 tagging) -> connected to 24 ports gigabit switch -> connectd to wired PC's and 3 additional wired M5's. I found that main unit could not pass the full 1GBPS , but only arround 300-400 mbps. I'm now using a router provided by the fiber company and set all Deco's to AP mode, achieving the full 1GBPS speed. I'm really missing the router functionalities such anti virus, malware, etc....My idea was to buy a new main Deco unit, the Deco BE85 because it has 2 10 GBPS ports that makes it future proof, my internet provider is already providing speeds up to 8 Gbps. I would keep the M5's as AP's.
Do you think the BE85 has enough juice to pull this off, and will it work with the M5's?
Thank for your advice in advance.
Kr,
Phil
