Hi,

My internet provider (Virgin) recently had to install a new router for me, and with it my WiFi network has changed. My TP Link AC750 Extender was working fine on the old network. Now, I want it to work with the new network.

I read that you can use the Tether App to change the network. However, when I log into the app, the extender doesn't show up - I think because it can't connect to the WiFi (because the network it was using - the old one - no longer exists).

Is there any other way to link it up with the new WiFi network/router do people know? I seem to be stuck in a loop with it.... I can't be the first person this has happened too, surely there must be a fix?!

Grateful for any advice.

Cheers

Elspeth

Hi,

Well, personally, whenever I upgrade my home's Wi-Fi router to a newer model I just adjust that new router's wireless network names to match whatever they were on the previous router that I am replacing. For example, if my previous router's network name was "ABCDE", then I set the new routers network name to be "ABCDE". That takes like a minute of my time and afterwards every other Wi-Fi device in my home will just work as before without additional effort.

But regarding your actual question. The easiest way to move a TP-Link range extender over to a new network is to press that small "Reset" button on the extender for a couple of seconds (usually located near the LAN port) and after that it will be in the same condition as a brand new extender out of the box. You can then just follow the same installation procedure you used last time when you installed the AC750 extender. (you will know the reset was successful if you can then find a wireless network named "TP-Link_Extender")
