Model: Deco S7
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.5.0 Build 20240329 Rel. 61026

There are certain compatibility issues regarding banking and payment if I am on your Deco Mesh Wi-Fi. The country is not being recognised correctly and banking softwares are blocking the connection as they are not able to properly identify the country. On shifting the network, they work fine. It is a problem with the Mesh Wi-Fi network only.

@Ronoray Have you installed the correct regional version of the firmware? (the region is mentioned in the packaging & at the bottom of Deco)

Does your country show up correctly in Deco web UI?

What location does it show when you go to whatismyipaddress dot com?

Just a M4 (2-pack) user who regrets buying it

whatsmyipaddress dot com shows the correct location. Country India. My main Deco is S7. I have 2 M4 installed with it. How do I get the regional firmware update?

Hi, Most Deco typically share a common download link. During the firmware upgrade, the product will automatically extract the correct file that matches the region code embedded into the current hardware. However, some regions do have locally customized firmware, so it is usually recommended to download the firmware file from the local official website.

And You have already updated the correct firmware.

For the current issue, Do you have a wired desktop that could be connected to the ISP modem directly to see whether the PC could access banking software correctly?

If yes, you could clone the MAC address of the desktop computer to see whether it helped:

How to Configure MAC Clone on Deco

Thank you very much and best regards.

@David-TP Thank you very much for your response .

I have a destop wired connection to my main Deco. On trying to access the banking site it still gives me the same error. The country is being recognised as Germany whereas whatsmyip dot com says its Kolkata, West Bengal, IN which is accurate. Is it because of some previous device registration with the banking application or not I am unable to figure out

Hi, Thanks for the update.

Instead of connecting the desktop to the main Deco, how about connecting to the ISP modem?

There used to be a shared story about the GEO location of the WiFi router and it is also suggested to refer to the suggestions here:

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP

I do not have any ISP router separately. I am on something called a Fiber connection and the wire from my ISP is directly connected to the Deco. Everything works fine and even the location is picked up correctly as per device system settings.

But for one particular application it is telling me to rectify the location from Play settings in Android and in the wired connection, the site refuses to open up.

In the Android Play Store settings, the country selected is correct. There is some location value the app is picking up from the Deco which is not matching. Otherwise everything else seems to be working fine. If I shift to a different network, that particular app is also working fine. That is the reason I contacted Deco support.

I do not find an option to add screenshots. If there, is a way, I could send you the necessary screenshots for you to understand it better.

Regards

Hi, Thank you very much for the reply.

You could send the screenshots to support.forum@tp-link.com if needed.

And so I'm still not convinced that it is related to Deco.

I think you could unplug Deco S7 from the ISP internet port and plug the desktop directly into the ISP fiber internet port in case of any limation or IP transferring on the ISP side. I know you mentioned you have switched to a different Wi-Fi network before but the final internet gateway of the Deco service is the Fiber ISP.

Wait for your reply and best regards.
