Model: TL-WN822N
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version:
  • new TL-WN822N rev 6
  • Windows 10 (currently using a TL-WN781ND)
  • Zyxel DX3301-T0 router

I just bought a TL-WN822N to try and improve the connectivity for my desktop pc - the internal TL-WN781ND is facing the wall, near a bad location and the signal is not the best. After just plugging in the adapter out of the box, it would recognize my wifi but Windows (10) bluescreened shortly after connecting to the network.

I thought it was a driver issue, so I went and installed the latest available from https://www.tp-link.com/it/support/download/tl-wn822n/ (TL-WN822N(EUUS)_V5_181022_Win.zip)

After installation, it refuses to find my wifi, even though it can find all the others in the neighborhood.

Going back to the older card, everything works.

Wifi is on channel 9, both 2.4 and 5Ghz have the same SSID

What could be the issue?

  @Yabbadidu

Hi,

Please refer to the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Try the public driver for TL-WN822N V6: WindowsDriver_1030.44.0408.2024

2. Change the wireless settings on the main router, like channel 1/6/11 for 2.4GHz, and channel 36/40/44/48 for 5GHz.

  @Sunshine

Thanks, installing those drivers helped and the adapter is now seeing and connecting to my home wifi again. Only thing, every 30 or so minutes it somehow goes in "No internet" despite the connection still being up and having the signal indicator to the max - Turning wifi off and on in windows fixes the issue for another 30 minutes.

Could the channel settings improve this?

Try below suggestions Check whether you have installed the latest driver or not. Check for your router's Wi-Fi channel, it might be congested.
