Hi all,

All of a sudden my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ cannot detect my Wi-Fi 6 GHz SSID anymore:

  • Previously, the Tab S8+ was connected to my Wi-Fi 6 GHz SSID;
  • My mobile can detect and connect to the Wi-Fi 6 GHz SSID;
  • My Tab S8+ can detect the backhaul Wi-Fi 6 GHz SSID, but obviously cannot connect to it;
  • The Wi-Fi 6 GHz SSID is not hidden;
  • As a test, I enabled the Wi-Fi 6 GHz guest network - still not visible from the Tab S8+ (but visible from my mobile);
  • There are no blocked devices in the Deco system;
  • Also, a Wi-Fi Analyzer app on the Tab S8+ doesn't detect the Wi-Fi 6 GHz network/SSID. The same app can detect it on my mobile. The app does detect the backhaul Wi-Fi 6 GHz network/SSID on the Tab S8+.

But interestingly, both my Tab S8+ and mobile (Samsung S23 Ultra) just recently had an update to the Android OS. My Tab S8+ (and mobile) runs:

  • Android v14
  • Open UI v6.1
  • Android security patch level: 1 May 2024

Does anyone know if the Android OS update has a bug? I've read that previous OS versions had bugs like this.

Thanks,

Thomas Birk

Hi, welcome to the community.

Are you able to connect the Tab S8+ to another 6GHz network?

I did some Google searches and haven't found any similar feedback yet.

Did it help to restart the tablet and reset the WLAN settings on the Tab S8+?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP

Thanks.
I still haven't found any other 6 GHz networks that I can test with. I will bring the Tab S8+ on holidays and hopefully find a network there.

It didn't help to restart the tablet and all Deco routers. Also, resetting the Wi-Fi settings on the tablet didn't change anything.

In the end, I will do a factory reset of the Deco routers and configure everything again.

  @Thomas_Birk

Did you find a solution to this problem?

I have exactly the same issue. S8+ tab can't detect the 6GHz wifi that it used to connect to just fine. For me, the turning point was the OneUI 6.1 upgrade from 6. Today, I received another update for the OS but it was just a ~300MB patch, not a full release, it didn't solve the issue. I also have the latest Google Play security patch. It drives me crazy. It can see the wifi6e-control SSID just fine, but can only connect to a 2.4/5GHz wifi.

Fun fact: I have an Unifi U6 Enterprise AP. But your report is the closest to my problem, I've been searching for weeks now. So it seems it's a tablet/OS issue, not related to the AP.

Did you factory reset the tablet? Did it solve it? I can't risk a factory reset if that wouldn't help, only if it's confirmed that it can be good again.

  @ubi

Hi,

I confirm that the problem hasn't been resolved by the recent OS update. I don't want to factory reset the tablet, so I don't know if that will help.

Further to this, I've logged a support request with Samsung Members - no results.

All in all, your case just confirms that this is an OS issue, and not an AP issue.

Best regards,

Hey  @Thomas_Birk

I have good news!

My tablet has received a full system upgrade finally that has resolved the issue!

It can connect to Wifi 6E again, just as before. Same AP, same SSID, it works again.

When the tablet restarted, it connected to it automatically, no tweaking needed.

These are the details of the Android (OneUI) update that solved it at last:

One UI version: 6.1.1

Android version: 14

Version: X800XXU8CXHB / X800OXM8CXHB

Size: 2890.76 MB

Security patch level: August 1, 2024

Hope it helps, and you'll also receive one soon!

Cheers, mate!
