Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.1 Build 20231122 Rel 40485

Hello. New here.

I will be adding a new single X60 to my existing 3 x X55 Home Mesh network for extra coverage on a 100Mbps home connection. Is there an advantage to making the X60 the primary unit, or should I keep the X55 as primary and simply add the X60 as another node?

Thank you for any advice.

(Not sure if it's V1 or V2 - it has a black top. Specially TP-Link Deco AX3000 Whole Home Mesh WiFi 6, Dual-Band, Coverage up to 600 sqm, 160 MHz, 1024-QAM, Seamless AI Roaming)

  @MacBay

Hi, welcome to the community.

You could refer to this link to find the hardware version:

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/46/

If Deco X60 is V3 and above, you could try to set it as the main Deco.

How to replace the main Deco with another Deco

If it is below V2, it is suggested to work as a satellite Deco.

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP

Its a V2. So I assume it offers no functionality beyond the X55. Thanks for letting me know.

It probably has some speed advantages if my broadband was with 1gbps -  but as my incoming speed of 100 Mb per second, it wint  make any difference to the speed that the X 55 and X 60 will be operating at anyway.

Cheers.

@MacBay Yeah, your priority should be upgrading your internet package, not buying another Deco

Just a M4 (2-pack) user who regrets buying it
