Model: Deco M4   Archer C20
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.6.1

I just replaced my old Archer C20(V1) to a Deco M4(V2) but I still have a dead zone in a room.

I was wondering if I could still use the C20 to work via WDS connecting to the M4 mesh network. I've tried to configure it, they did manage to establish a connection, but it won't exchange data.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is this even viable?

It is not viable. Archer and Deco will not make one WiFi mesh. They will run as independent WiFi routers at best.

Put aside Archer router. To provide coverage for dead zones and have WiFi mesh you'll need to add more Deco units. Get additional M4 or M5, or if you plan to connect Satellite Deco(s) wirelessly to Main M4 you could even look for Deco E4 - that model has 100Mbps Ethernet ports and for that reason is often on sale, but otherwise as good as M4.

Thanks for the rapid reply! I don't really intend on making the C20 as part of the mesh network. I just wanted for it to be a repeater of a M4. But I suppose that isn't possible as well.

Hi, I can't guarantee the WDS works but you can try to enable the WDS on the C20_V1 and scan for the wireless network of Deco M4.

How to Configure WDS Bridging on TP-Link Dual Band Routers

Thank you very much and best regards.
