Model: Archer C20
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 0.9.1 4.19 v0001.0 Build 230307 Rel.40660n(5553)

I am using AC750 Wireless Dual Band Router Model No. Archer C20V6 as a Wifi extender on 5Ghz wireless network.

When I connect to the router, I get less than 1 Mbps up & down speed.

However, When I connect to original network without the extender I get more than 70 Mbps up & down speed.

My firmware is also updated.

5GHz band is very susceptible for distances. Try using the 2.4GHz band and check if there's nay improvement.

Best results you'll get if you use the Archer C20 in AP mode - Case 1 (if cabling is possible).

Thankyou so much for your response.

The issue is I am keeping both my laptop and router at same place. On same network, wifi on my laptop without the extender is giving me 70 mbps, wifi with extender gives me less than 1 mbps ;(

Let me see if I understand that correctly:

If you connect your laptop to your main router wi-fi, you get a normal bandwidth.

When you start your Archer C20 in RE mode and your laptop is still connected to your main router wi-fi, the laptop bandwidth drops significantly.

Is that correct ? What's the main router make and model ?

Sorry. I think I was not able to explain better. I'll try again.

Assume, my main router/network is called "Alpha", when I connect with Alpha on my laptop via wifi, I get speeds upto 70mbps.

I am using Archer C20 to extend "Alpha" to second floor.  For that, I am using Tether app on android to setup wifi extender, I setup "Bravo" that extends "Alpha".

When I connect to Bravo using my laptop wifi, I am getting less than 01 mbps speed. (Bravo is extending Alpha, both my laptop and archar c20 are placed at same place)

OK, Now it's clearer. You mentioned that C20 is using 5GHz to connect to your main router - correct ?

Have you try to configure the 2.4GHz band to connect to your main router and check if the speed is better ?

As I mentioned the 5GHz band is susceptible to large distances / obstacles and that may causing the issue.
