Model: TL-WN781ND
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

About 1.5 years ago, I bought a 150mbps Tplink wifi adapter. Since I first bought it, I haven't been able to get more than 30mbps from my 100mbps home internet. I could get 99 with a cable. I'm looking for a solution because I have to connect via wifi. My internet speed is around 80-85, but I don't see more than 10-15 with the adapter.. With another brand, cheaper and lower-quality USB adapter, I see around 70, but since it's connected via USB, the connection frequently drops. I bought the Tplink adapter to solve this issue, but unfortunately, my speed is even lower. Also, I'm getting this speed from the wifi adapter about 50-60 cm away. I would appreciate it if you could help.

My adapter

Plugged into the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot

Motherboard: B450M MORTAR MAX

  @Furkanb

Hi, Did your main router support 5GHz?

Since TL-WN781ND is 2.4 GHz only, 2.4 GHz is usually crowded and easily affected by other wireless signals on the same spectrum.

You could try to edit the wireless channel on the main router, channel 11 for example.

It would be better if you could install a dual-band wireless adapter.

TL-WN781ND has been end-of-life for quite a long time and there hasn't been any updated driver.

Thank you very much and Best regards.

I'm staying in a dormitory so I can't access the router. Is there any other way? Also, when I was at home, I could get 99mbps even when connected via 2.4 GHz WiFi, but with the TP-Link adapter, I haven't seen speeds higher than 20-30. I don't think it's related to 2.4 GHz; I believe there's an issue with the device. It is sold as 150 mbps, but it cannot get that speed.
