Model: Archer AX23
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20230725 Rel. 55602

My AX23 router is setup using wireless access point mode and it is randomly turning off (this can range from a few hours to days). By "turning off" I mean that the LED lights switch off and the router becomes unresponsive. If I toggle the power switch to off and then turn it back on the router will reboot and it will work normally until the next time it fails. I have tried doing a factory reset but that has made no difference.

I don't think this is a case where the power button is faulty since the router feels warm even though the lights are off. I'm attaching the logs but it seems like the log file isn't being updated since the most recent date is from July 2023(?).

I also forgot to mention that this router was purchased February 1, 2024 so it's relatively new and it has had this problem since the beginning although it seems to be getting worse. Initially it would work for a week or so but now it rarely stays on for longer than a day.

  @ScoPro

Upon router restart or a successful reset to factory settings you should have your device logs deleted.

The interesting here is that the logs are only from 2023-07-25 when the latest FW release build date is.

What you can try is to switch AX23 to router mode, reset to factory defaults and then switch back to AP mode.

To reset the router to its factory settings press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds.

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

I tried doing another factory reset. Interestingly the logs from the "Wireless Router Mode" show today's date:

It appears there may be some kind of bug with using this router in access point mode? Why would each mode be accessing a totally different syslog? Does anyone else use this mode with success?

  @ScoPro

These logs are different because some features are not availbale in AP mode - details.

I am using a different router model in AP mode successfully. Sometimes happpens that a FW can have a bug and needs to be fixed.

Usually a beta FW release is issued until a stable FW release is ready.

Not sure that's the case here but logs in AP mode with onlly the same date as the current FW build IMHO is abnormal.

There's a little change in your logs in AP mode though - most recent log is with the current time/date.

Let the device run a while and observe if there's any improvement.

Re:Archer AX23 turning off (crashing?) in access point mode

  @Sunshine

The router is setup using the default settings (other than switching it to AP mode). I did try different wall sockets as I moved it to different rooms. It is also using the power adapter that came with it (power supply doesn't appear to be an issue as it is still receiving power).
