@woozle HI Yes , i am as puzzled as you are in reflection. Because i had no Ethernet connection prior when the thing worked perfectly with the two additional network options (5G) and Normal.  The signal was sent from the main house to a separate building about 20 feet away. There was no wired connection between the Router and the Repeater or the Repeater and the Extender. I bought the Extender as one unit paired it with the Extender and then plugged it in in the other building and all was great until the network upgrade. The Hardware replaced on upgrade was the Router.
