Model: Deco XE75
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.9

I've been using Deco M5 for many years on 2 other locations. Recently got a DECO XE75 for a third location and it has been giving me troubles on connection stability with older macbook pro's from 2016 and 2017 on the main wifi network. When connected to the guest network, it seems to be working fine. A new 2023 Macbook pro M3, iphone 14 and 15 are working fine on main network withou dropping wifi connection. Also I don't see iot devices dropping connection.

I've tried many sollutions but no luck so far.

for example, but nog limited to:

- Switching off mesh for specific devices

- Switching off fast roaming

- Switching off OFDMA/MU-MIMO

- Switching off SIP ALG

- Switching off UPNP

- Restarting the DECO's

- Restarting the Macbooks

- Even went so far freshly reinstall one macbook with a clean OS

- Switching from Router mode to AP mode on the DECO

- Turning off 5 and 6ghz

  @Eastmaster when you say you got a XE75 for a 3rd location do you mean a third property (i.e a third separate network) or a third location in the same property? How is the network that is causing problems set up; wired/wifi backhaul, ISP router involved, is the M5 or XE75 set up as the main unit, etc? If all the units are forming a single mesh is there a problem when connecting to the M5 units or just the XE75 unit? Lots of variables here to sort out first!

Hi  @Wrayman ,

Thanks for you reply, situation is as follow:

M5 and XE75 are on seperate properties, seperate networks. The two other M5 networks have 3 and 4 M5's mixed wired and wirless backhaul setup. No problem there at all with fast roaming disabled.

Location with connection problems:

I have 3 XE75 installed, with wired backhaul. ISP going to main unit XE75, and from there the other 2 XE75 are directly connected with UTP.

  @Eastmaster if the older devices at the new property are the only ones having issues my first suspicion is that the new network might be set up with WPA3 or mixed WPA2/WPA3 encryption and they don't like that? You could try setting it up as just WPA2 and see if that fixes the problem for the older devices.

Another issue might be that if the networks both have the same SSID and password that the slight differences between the two networks could be causing weird problems, giving the new network a unique name and reconnecting to it could help a bit.

Looks like you've already disabled the mesh technology for the affected devices too so that's a good troubleshooting step for older devices, hopefully you can re-enable that (and the UPNP, SIP ALG, etc) if we solve the actual cause of the problem!

  @Wrayman

I've figured out what caused the problem. Not sure why the problem didn't went away when I turned off 6ghz network. I did set the same SSID for 2,5/5Ghz and 6ghz network. When I changed the name for the 6ghz, all the problems went away.

Now I'm tyring to activate all the mesh features again and see if it cause any trouble with all the connected devices here.

  @Eastmaster

I'm glad you managed to isolate the issue yes It's weird that it caused problems for your older devices but not your newer ones though!
