Archer AX55 firmware v1.2.6 prevents samsung smart tv from internet access
Archer AX55 firmware v1.2.6 prevents samsung smart tv from internet access
After an update from firmware 1.2.3 Build 20230603 rel.46473(4555) to 1.2.6 Build 20231130 rel.36135 (I had auto update enabled) my samsung smart tv failed to connect to the internet. Also with the firmware v1.2.6 the tv didn't show up on the client list.
The tv reported connection to the router but no connection to the internet.
Using a different router my tv did connect to the internet through wifi, making sure the problem wasn't the tv itself.
Downgrading the firmware back to v1.2.3 did resolve the issue, tv showed up in the client list and could access the internet again.
The system log didn't show anything.

@terziyski , Ok tried the beta, no change.
All my devices are seen and connected to the internet except the TV.
Back to the v1.2.3 firmware and the TV is connected again and seen in the client list.

Well, in this case there's no other option for you but to wait for the next stable FW release.

@terziyski Ok, but the current stable release has this bug. Why do you believe this bug will be fixed in the next stable release?

It's just a hope that TP-LInk folks would spot your issue. Besides, I believe that current stable release has other flaws as well - seen in other threads.

I have 3 Samsung smart TVs but have not experienced any problems such as yours. Have you tried both a wired and wireless connection and neither works? A wired connection should always work, especially with a DHCP connection. If the problem is wireless only, then it might be an authentication or IP assignment problem, especially if you reset the router to its default settings and the TV uses a reserved IP.

With the v1.2.6 firmware:
Wired worked.
Wireless works perfectly from the TV to the accesspoint, I got an ip and dns, but no internet connection.
TV shows in the network status that the connection to the accesspoint is ok but no internet connection.
I tried to set the dns in the TV wireless to 8.8.8.8 to exclude a dns issue, no results.
It looks like the accesspoint blocks the internet access, but no way to tell as the TV isn't shown in the client list.
All my other devices are shown, phones, laptops, voip etc. Except the TV.
Returning to the v1.2.3 firmware and the tv is shown in the client list and has, wireless, internet access.
Please let me know if I can get more info from the accesspoint if that would help track the cause of this issue.
PS, the tv also works perfectly if I connect it to my mobile phone acting as a hotspot.

Have you tried to set the DNS 8.8.8.8 in AX55 itself (its DHCP settings) but not on the TV settings and test if any difference ?

No I have not.
I understand the need to exclude every possibility that the firmware is not the cause but lets be honest, using the old firmware and changing *nothing* else will make the TV connect to the internet in a few seconds.
Also not showing up in the clients list is probably a strong sign that something is wrong in the way the 1.2.6 firmware, and the current beta, are handleling this wireless client.
Not sure if it's possible to increase the amount of logging, perhaps in a beta firmware, as the current logging is pretty useless for this.
