Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.7.4 Build 20231222 Rel. 63684

I have changed my DNS server in the Deco decvice from OpenDns (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220) to Google DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4).

My PC clients are showing (ipconfig /all)  208.67.222.222, 8.8.8.8 when set to automatically obtain DNS.

Any change I make now to the DNS settings in the Deco app do not change the client resolution order.

Main Deco is configured as a Wifi router connected to the ISP router via DHCP, with default DNS from the ISP (non of the above listed)

Hi, just want to be sure, did you change the DNS from OpenDns (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220) to Google DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) under Deco APP>More>Advanced>DHCP Server?

If you try to manually restart Deco once , did it help?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Thanks David!

I just noticed that TP-Link put two separate places for DNS settings, once under "Internet connection" and ther other under ""advanced > DHCP".

I wonder why they created these two options.

  @Roig

Hi, we often call the DNS under IPV4 "WAN DNS server" that the router will use for its upstream DNS (if you don't want to use your ISP's servers). The LAN DNS servers under "DHCP Server" are the addresses that DHCP will give out to clients on your LAN instead of itself (which is the default).

Best regards.

Thanks for the clarification. Please carry this feedback to the product team, it is confusing.

I'm an experienced product manager in tech, including background in telecommunications, and I still did not figure it out without gettinghelp.
