1. Please be sure you have read the Terms and Conditions for TP-Link Beta Firmware before proceeding.
2. For Deco M4_V2, the firmware downgrade(back to the official 1.5.8 version) needs to be implemented via firmware recovery.
3. For Deco S4_V2, it would revert to the official 1.5.1 directly via web UI.
4. How to update the firmware via web UI.

@David-TP Well, after how many days the update will come is still uncertain hahaha... 1.6.3 It was an EU update not a US update. Did you know that those of us who updated the beta version can't install the 1.6.3 update????

I hope I'm not the 10000th asking this question.
I have a 3x Deco S4 V2, with firmware 1.6.1 Build 20231228 (always updated via the Deco app, never installed beta versions to my knowledge).
However, I do not have the option to set a connection preference in the app. I am guessing the build number of the 1.6.1 firmware is too low/old, is that correct?
If the low build number is the reason for the missing option for connection preference, may I ask when (approx.) the stable update via the app will be released to enable connection preference for the S4 V2?

Hi, welcome to the community.
You are right that the 1.6.1 firmware version hasn't added the option to set a connection preference in the app.
The previously anticipated release date is inferred from concrete indicators, while currently, the engineers wouldn't like to share any information regarding the firmware, making it difficult to predict an approximate date.
I'm still asking the engineers for a regular update and will keep the community informed if there is any possible news.

@David-TP I've just added a fourth M4 to my network. It is on 1.6.2, but all of the others are on 1.7.0 after updating a few months ago.
I don't seem to be able to force the new M4 to update to 1.7.0. Choosing to update via the webinterface shows nothing useful, it just tells me updating will take some time and reboot, I click upgrade and nothing else happens.
Is this expected behaviour?

@larkim 1.6.2 is for EU firmware of M4, most likely the other 3 Decos have US firmware

@ImtiazAli The 1.7.0 is a beta firmware which I've applied to my (UK) units to enable the connection "choice" preference. The issue is that I've now bought a fourth unit which should be able to be updated to the 1.7.0 as I did with the other three units, but the manual firmware update via the web page doesn't appear to work, and there's no reason why it shouldn't.

Hi, Can you help me check the hardware version on the product label, whether it is V2 or V3? I remember V3 has 1.6.2 firmware as well.
If it is V2, did you try to log into the individual web UI of this satellite M4 whose IP address could be found on the Deco APP, such as 192.168.71.250 here:

@David-TP Logged into the unit from work by port forwarding port 80 on the Deco unit, but when I select the .bin file and hit upgrade I get a spinny wheel for a few seconds the "Operation Successful" but no firmware update is applied.
Will try again at home tonight - never had an issue before with updating firmware, but will double check the correct file etc. Just a bit annoying that the web ui doesn't provide more useful feedback about what's happened / not happend!
