I have a TP-Link Archer VR2100 that worked flawlessly until I did an upgrade this week.
I use it as a DSL modem connected to PlusNet over VDSL.
Now, it no longer shows any DSL settings and on checking I noticed it is now operating in "Wireless Router Mode" although it appears to be working on the Internet.
If I select "DSL Modem Router Mode" it requires a reboot but is then back in "Wireless Router Mode"
How can I fix this, please?
On the management screen, it says at the bottom:
Firmware Version: undefined & Hardware Version: undefined
The label says:
Model: Archer VR2100(EU) Ver:1.0
So if I understood the firmware download instructions I need V1.6 firmware.
I downloaded and flashed with Archer_VR2100V1_1.6.0_0.9.1_up_boot(220518)_2022-05-18_14.01.59.bin
Is this the wrong one then?

The correct FW for your router is Archer VR2100(EU)_V1_1.6.0 Build 220518 - here.

Something may went wrong during FW update - if you switch the router to DSL modem router mode it should stay in this mode after restart.

Do the FW update again and test. If the issue persists you can reset the router to its factory defaults and re-configure from scratch.

Yes terziyski, thanks for the reply.

That's the exact version I've been trying multiple times.

So I have now downloaded a fresh copy, reset the VR2100 using a pin in the reset hole (30sec), as you suggested, and re-flashed.

But it's exactly the same.

The file name I used is: "Archer_VR2100V1_1.6.0_0.9.1_up_boot(220518)_2022-05-18_14.01.59.bin".

 

It's still showing "Firmware Version: undefined & Hardware Version: undefined"

Is it safe to try what looks like an older version, maybe one of these?

Archer VR2100(EU)_V1_210722 or

Archer VR2100(EU)_V1_201122

Yes, you could try with an earlier FW release like Archer VR2100(EU)_V1_210722.
