Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

This Article Applies to:

Archer AX53 V1 with firmware version 1.2.2 Build 20230627
Archer AX72 pro V1 with firmware version 1.2.2 Build 20230831

Phenomenon Description:

Some users have reported that when their Archer AX53 or Archer AX72 Pro router is in AP mode, the IoT network is automatically disabled after a reboot. To reinstate the IoT network, users must log into the web interface and manually enable it. However, when they switch the device to wireless router mode, this issue does not occur.

Workaround:

If you encounter similar issues, we recommend the following two workarounds, please try either one and confirm if the issue can be resolved:

Workaround 1: please try following steps:

1) Switch the device from AP mode to router mode.

2) Perform a factory reset by holding reset button for about 10s. Please note that all the previous configurations will be lost.

3) After the factory reset, switch the device back to AP mode.

4) Check if the IoT network remains enabled after a router reboot.

Workaround 2. You could also download and update the following beta firmware:

Archer AX53 V1: Archer_AX53_V1_1.2.3_Build_20230925

Archer AX72 pro V1: Archer_AX72_Pro_V1_1.2.3_Build_20240108

Note: Please be sure you have read the Terms and Conditions for TP-Link Beta Firmware before proceeding.

If there is still any problem after trying the two workarounds, please leave your comments with model no., hardware version, the firmware version of your TP-Link device, its working mode and detailed problem description.

By the way, if you encounter a similar issue for other models, you could also try the workaround 1 first and let us know if it solves the issue.

Possible security vulnerability found.

-Disabling this option at -(->wps->router's pin -> --Disable router's pin)  should disable allowing any pin attempt by reaver and possibly prevent some brute force attacks. But for some reason the router sets wps pin to 12345670 after reboot and the password can be hacked within seconds easily.

Question: why do tp-link still ship routers with wps enabled? All it does is probably expose some backdoor and security vulnerability..

TPLink must support theirs router for more time, not abandone it after launch to the market and release another hardware rev, forgetting the previous rev. I hope launch a firmware to AX53 v1 with all troubleshooting mencioned fixed.

Greets.

  @Dezinn

This beta firmware is only to solve the IoT network settings issue in AP mode, there is no known 160MHz issue now, thus no related fixes added.

I've replied you in your another thread, please have a check. We could follow up your case in your thread since it is different issue from this thread.

Hi, thanks for the feedback, AX53 V1 is not abandoned, even though we are not sure about the ETA, there will be new firmware for it as well, once there is any update, we will inform users on the community.

  @Wata_0w0

May I know if the issue you mentioned exists on this beta firmware or also previous official firmware?

We will report to senior engineer first, once there is any update, I will let you know.

  @Sunshine

I'm not sure about previous firmwares, haven't tried this exploit there. But can confirm this issue exists on this particular beta firmware.

Same firmware flaw exists in: Hardware Version: Archer AX55 v1.0 Firmware Version: 1.2.6 Build 20231130 rel.36135(4555) - also present in previous firmware version! Please fix this in a future Firmware update instead of letting your end users TRY to fix it by switching back to router mode -> factory reset -> re-program the complete device back to original AP mode. (quite a job on my 4 AX55 devices!) Since this is an issue on several devices/firmwares it must be a systemic software bug and should be fixed by TP-Link ASAP. Chears zEnterHacker
