TP-Link IoT Network on mesh extender
TP-Link IoT Network on mesh extender
So I just bought an RE300 dual band mesh extender to replace my old N300.
Unfortunately despite checking my C7 router supported one mesh it turned out I needed v5 hardware & mine was v4 :(
No problem, it was 6 years old & C80 on sale @ Amazon so set that up & slightly better speeds but the mesh network now worked.
I noticed the C80 had an IoT network setting so activated that & started setting up various switches etc. Except when I got to the end of the house with the new extender the IoT network was gone!
It appears that for some reason the extender's not replicating the IoT network even after restarting both the extender & the router. Pretty annoying as I then had to reset the devices I'd already added, as there's not much point having only some devices on a separate IoT network :(
Am I missing something obvious or will a mesh network only work for one network ID?

I have the same problem with the guest network specifically, really a disappointment.

@woozle i just inquried about the same issue! I bought an archer 9300 and a re315 because the new eero system was so much more expensive but i am having many issues so far with both my units. And then i come to find out after speaking with a tech that they offer the IOT but not with the extension....makes me want to go back to eero and just pay the extra money for the headaches..

I switched over from 3x M9+ Mesh to 4x AXE5400 Pro. It's been a nightmare in terms of reliability; firmware after firmware. I get my Gigabit speeds but that's all. I don't notice my range to be any better.
I redid my whole network and created an IOT network, Guest Network, and my Main network. For over a month since doing so my WIFI cameras, WIFI doorbells, Google Minis/Hubs, and smart plugs will disconnect all the time. I kept having to reinstall and I notice my IOT Network doesn't always show up on my property. I did a search and came to this post.
Are you telling me I dropped all this money to upgrade to 6E that can't Mesh my IOT network and Guest network?

@DECO9_USER No, nobody is telling you that EasyMesh doesn't extend IOT or Guest, but yes, that appears to be the case. This appears to be a limitation of EasyMesh. What isn't clear is whether it is possible for TP Link to fix it with firmware alone or whether they even would if they could, since they offer a functional alternative for 3X the price.
On a related note, has anyone had any success getting MAC filtering (white list) to work over TP Link EasyMesh? There are many WWW articles about how to generate acceptable MAC IDs for the extended devices (including from TP Link)(hint - it's probably not the MAC ID of the device) but none of the posted solutions have worked for me.

I don't have a specification for EasyMesh at hand, but if I understand the two sections about "Network traffic separation" in this article https://www.wi-fi.org/beacon/john-bahr/wi-fi-certified-easymesh-update-added-features-for-operator-managed-home-wi-fi correctly, then Multi SSID should have been part of the EasyMesh standard from the beginning and it later was even enhanced to support VLANs.
So it shouldn't be a limitation of EasyMesh in general, but more like that certain parts of the EasyMesh standard haven't been implemented in the software yet.

Dang, just came home with my new $300 WiFi easy mesh extender that I'll be returning becuase I was mislead into thinking it would extend my iot network, wish i came here first and just saved the time.
