Model: Archer C5400
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Archer C5400(US)_V2_1.2.9 Build 20230907

Hi

I have an Archer C5400 v2 in my home and works fine for several years now. I upgraded my internet line to Fiber (1GB down, 100 MB up)

The provider gives a router with a very weak wifi 6E signal. But my older Archer C5400 v2 has now an improved wifi throughput. I went from  20-25 MB download to over 200MB download. I believe that is around the max for the Archer C5400

This worked fine until I upgraded to the latest firmware: Archer C5400(US)_V2_1.2.9 Build 20230907

The speed dropped to 20-25 MB download. I tried everything, but all my devices connected to the Archer C5400 had a max download of 20-25MB

In the end I downgraded to Archer C5400(US)_V2_1.2.6 Build 20220511 and this solved the problem, now I am downloading again around 200MB

Something is very wrong with the latest firmware for the Archer 5400 v2, I know it is an old model and I shall upgrade to Wifi 6E or Wifi 7 in the near future

Anyone also seen this?

Thanks

Jhuizi

When the speed is slow, you could check the negotiation speed of each ports to see if they are 1000Mbps or 100Mbps on Network Map page by clicking the router icon:

  @QRene

Hi

I upgraded again and I checked the Interfaces, they were 1000, so that is not the problem

The download was now 85MB and the upload was 9MB

After downgrading, the speed went back to 200MB down and 100MB up

So, I am staying on this older level

I bought a TP-LINK TXE75E Wireless Card Wi‑Fi 6E PCI-e Card which should even improve more the current speed because of more power full antenna

And then I will upgrade my router, not sure if TP-link or ASUS, will check later this year

Thank you for your help
