Deco X50-5G - Cannot manually select LTE/5G bands
Hello,
I would like to manually set concrete LTE/5G bands in Deco app, but I am getting error "Search failed. Please try again later".
I tried it with "O2 Czech Republic" and "Vodafone Czech Republic" SIM cards with the same result.
Internet connection and everything else works well with both mobile operators. Only manual selection of LTE/5G bands is not possible. Is it a problem of mobile operators in Czech Republic or it's an issue on TP-Link side?
Thank you in advance for reply.
Sincerely,
Tomáš Kroupa

Yesterday, I received reply from TP-Link support and the root of problem is that we have 5G NSA (non-standalone) network in Czech Republic at this time and Deco X50-5G doesn't allowed to manually select bands in this case (5G NSA vs SA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5G_NR). This is also probably the reason why the "5G only" option is missing in the "network mode" settings.
I proposed them a similar solution as @badrul7 described above. So if Deco X50-5G is able to identify NSA network it could be good feature if I should have to select combination of 4G/LTE bands and 5G/NR bands in that case, e.g. B20/N3
My main problem is that location of my house is between two BTS / mobile towers (the first and closer one has only 4G/LTE bands and the second one has also 5G/NR bands) and Deco X50-5G is switching between of them irregularly.

Hi, welcome to the community.
May I know your current "Network Type and "Band" here?
Could you please also help me submit the Deco APP log: How to submit Deco APP log
Thank you very much and best regards.

@olivmigu If there would be an option to set up "5G only" network, that would also solve my problem. But the "5G only" option is missing there.
In order to prevent Deco x50-5G from switching between two BTS / mobile towers, I would like to set concrete mobile bands, but it is also not possible right now.
@David-TP Thank you for reply. I am still waiting for response from your collegues.
Sincerely,

Hi David,
I've been grappling with this issue as well. Instead of having users search or filter bands for selection, I propose that the device simply lists all supported bands in the manual band selection feature. For instance:
4G FDD-LTE: B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28,
4G TDD-LTE: B38/B40/B41/B42/B43
5G: N1/N3/N5/N7/N8/N20/N28/N38/N40/N41/N77/N78
This way, users can freely select bands that are relevant to their specific needs. In the current 5G deployment (NSA mode), I'd personally opt for B28 and N78, while others might prefer B20 and N3.
If TP-Link prefers to regulate which bands are listed, it would be helpful if the device could, at the very least, display the bands it's currently connected to. This way, users could lock onto those specific bands if desired.

Hello,
Did anyone find how to select some 5G bands + some LTE bands?
The band selection is only available for me in 4G only,
Is there a new firmware version coming out soon solving this?
Thanks for your help,
Michael

Hello @Michael31,
I received a beta version of Deco X50-5G firmware (version 1.1.5) from TP-Link support, where this configuration is possible. For my use case it works perfectly.
But I'm not sure if I can publish this firmware version here without their permission.
It would be better to ask TP-Link support directly. cc: @David-TP
Have a nice day.

Hi, Thank you very much for the messages.
Under "5G preferred" Mode, for 5G NSA service, it doesn't support manually setting the 5G band. It works when the SIM carrier is using 5G SA only.
The beta firmware didn't open this limit either. It only helps to fix the 5G NSA network to a specific band and is not universally applicable to all users.
Thanks again and best regards.
