Ever since TP Link implemented the ability to name WiFi 6E to the same SSID as the network, I am having connection issues with 2.4GHz IoT Wemo devices from maintaining a stable connection. When I rename the 6E SSID to something different, the connection is stabilized.

 

I also need to shut off the 5GHz band to reset and reconnect them back to the network. Once setup, I reactivate the 5Ghz band and all is well.

Hi, Thank you very much for your feedback here.

I guess the WiFi 6E name here refers to 6GHz SSID?

Since 2.4GHz IOT Wemo devices don't support 6GHz, I believe they are not even able to detect this 6GHz SSID.

Deco XE5300_V1 with the latest firmware supports a seperate IOT network, have you tried to enable the IOT for 2.4GHz only for Wemo devices? Then you could leave the main 2.4+5+6GHz on the same SSID for other mobile devices.

  @David-TP thanks for response. Yes, the 2.4GHz won't see the 6GHz or 5GHz band, of course, but by enabling the same SSID name across all bands in Deco, it's causing instability with the IoT Wemo device connection.

 

Im also not enabling a separate IoT network because this defeats the Apple Home ecosystem that enables interaction across mobile devices, Apple TV, HoemPods, and computer where the Apple Home app are all installed, acts as a hub, and can control all these IoT.
