Hi,

I have no "technical" skills on this matter...

I'm moving to a bigger house, which has ethernet connection on all divisions, incluing on Laundry/Garage (different building).

I'm upgranding from a Archer MR6000 (good for my current appartment) to an X50-4G and 2 X50-POE.

My main concern is that the wifi signal probably wont reach garage. But with this solution, X50-4G, connected to ethertnet will take my internet signal to the X50-POE on the laundry, right?

The contractor left the ethernet connection, on the Garage at floor level, but the X50-POE has can be mounted on the wall, shoul I leave it on the "floor" or put it higher?

Do you usually use the Guest feature for a separated wifi?

Tnks

Daniel

  @danielhvf

Hi, welcome to the community.

Yes, Deco X50-POE should get a connection through the Ethernet cables from the main Deco X50-4G to the laundry room.

As for the location, it will be better to put it higher (1.5-2m above the floor would be better).

General questions about PoE feature on Deco X50-PoE

As for the guest network, it could be used as a separate WiFi if you need a single 2.4 or 5GHz WiFi band.

Thank you very much and best regards.

@danielhvf Hi, the current firmware for Deco X50-4G does not support VPN Server/Client yet.

Best regards.

@danielhvf Same here. Been waiting for almost a year now. Regret switching from my MR600 to Deco X50-4G. The firmware and features you get are not like what you get from X50. Unfair features and fimware rollout, where only a few models get prioritised while the rest will be left rotting.

@arktiknova Same here...Switched from MR600 to X50-4G and BIG REGRET in both cases.

I wanted to expand the network with Mesh and the MR600 does also not have the setting options for my VPN provider. So I thought it would be possible with the X50-4G, based on my internet research. But: no luck. I bought several Deco extensions, including five cameras and smart home products, and now I realize that I can't make any VPN settings for this one either. Setting it up via the smartphone app is also annoying.
