Deco X50-5G loses internet connection
Hi!
About a month ago I bought a Deco X50-5G mesh router.
I get great connection and speed up to 400-500Mbit/s certain times in the day. Most often about 50-170Mbit/s. I love it!
But a couple of times each day (often 1-3 times a day) it loses the internet connection. after a reboot it works again.
I have the same mobile internet on my and my wifes phones, and they work. So it should not be any problem with the operator (Telia, Sweden).
We have 2 external antennas to boost the coverage.
What could be wrong?
Best Regards
Niklas

@David-TP Thanks for the recommendation. Currently the main deco X50-5G is functioning as expected. I don't see a need to set it up as a bridge modem unless there is proven stability or reliability improvement.

Just an update on my sitatuion:
TP link did a remote session and faster 90mins deduced:
e4:5f:01:fe:43:32 is the MAC of the home assistant (192.168.68.136), and 192.168.68.59 is the IP of this computer. The acceleration entry of X50-PoE thinks that 192.168.68.59 corresponds to e4:5f:01:fe:43:32, which causes the problem
My file transfers work if i unplug home assistant but don't want to do that long term. I was impressed as it took a lot of work for him to figure this out. He was blaming home assitant but this home assitant worked without issue on my older Deco M4 mesh.
I've switched my main x50 PoE deco for another factory reset one but problem persists.
This deco also reboots I think, or loses internet connection 5-10 times per day. No idea what causes that either.
Next steps:
1. Plug of using the PoE to see if that makes a difference (I was using a switch and then tried a PoE injector to eliminate the switch as a problem
2. Try the deco in AP mode, i feel i'd be losing functionality though.
3. Return them and try an alternative.

i am having same issue, even after upgrading firmware.
-> at first used 5g for the internet connection only, with wifi turned off.
it was connected a different mesh system via ethernet.
it worked for 1 week, no issues, good speed, no dropped connections.
->then used it in different location with wifi turned on
after a few days, it crashed completely, red lights only.
re-configured from scrtach. worked for a few days. crashed completely again.
-> once i retrieve it, i will again re-configure and use a different WIFI router connected via ethernet.
i hope it will run without issues. i suspect its buggy tp link software.

The Deco X50-5G has a serious hardware issue.
I have now got a cheapo router and am using the X50-5G as an access point. Stable, reliable internet has returned. I can't believe £20 off eBay solved my problem. It wasn't with the network, it wasn't with walls or roof, it wasn't the sim card, it wasn't anything else that TP-Link has been trying to fob us off with. I genuinely don't believe it's anything that can be fixed with the million updates they'll push. It's got an issue that can't be resolved - I think something is overheating?
A £400 access point which still occasionally randomly restarts. What a worthless piece of junk!

@Carolinemv89 Did you try the beta firmware upgrade? That fixed the reboot issue for me. Very bad that they didn't put it into an official upgrade for so long though

@chrisofthewhite Thanks, Chris! I haven't tried that but maybe my husband did. I've lost the will to live....
Seriously I have honestly sworn to myself that I can't give another second of my timeto this ugly bit of plastic in my room. Just gutted I wasted so much money on a paper weight!

@hario yeah it works fine if you install the beta software, I'm told that implementing in official realise it's imminent: firmware 1.4.4 Build 20240821 Rel. 72028

Hello David-TP
Do you know when mentioned here firmware 1.4.4 for deco X50-5G can be expected? I am also facing continous restarts of my X50-5G (one per few days to few times per day). Currently running on firmware 1.1.7. Would be nice to see no restarts for more than month, like it was when I was using X50 (regular deco X50 model) as main router. Then I had this insane idea to buy a router with backup functionality and it started...
Best Regards

Just install your beta firmware and problem is solved. No more random restarts. It's linked in previous post.
