Hi, new here.

Standard question, I guess...

Old house in France Buygues wifi 5 modem/router with 4 ethernet ports and wifi.

Wifi is not very good in most remote part of the house. Tried wireless wifi extender. Not so good.

Is wired acces point, connected with ethernet cable to router/modem better?

Easy to install? does wifi from modem/router stays the same?

Will not be used often, so what is an affordable solution?

Thank you!

  @Robert0

Ethernet connected AP (access point) is lways better that the wirelesss connection.

You can use any wireless router or dedicated AP for this purpose.

Configuration is easy - here's how to configure a wireless router in AP mode.

If you choose a dedicated AP - here's a video guide for configuring.

Whatever your choice is the SSID (wireless network name) could be set the same as in your main modem/router.
