Official Release New 1.3.1 Firmware for Deco X50/X55 Adds Support for Whitelist and Matter
Following up on the previous VPN and IoT Network, more advanced features, such as Allow List (also known as MAC Filtering / Whitelist), Camera Security, and Captive Portal for the Guest network, will be added to Deco. Now, it is exciting to know that Deco X50/Deco X55_V1_1.3.0 with the latest 1.9.0 firmware platform features is ready for trial.

>>How to update the firmware
New Features/Enhancements:
Wi-Fi Access Control
It is under Deco APP > Secutiy and supports two modes: Allow List and Block List. When the Allow List is selected, only the pre-defined MAC addresses can connect to Wi-Fi and access the internet.
There are two sub-functions under Allow List mode, Guest Network Exception and New Device Notification. So you could decide whether the same limitation applies to the Guest network or not, and receive a notification before permitting an internet connection.
Camera Security
It is under Deco APP > Secutiy and allows users to set the internet access permission of security cameras to provide a more secure connection.
There are two modes under Camera Security: Home Mode and Local Only Mode.
Under Home Mode, it would display the current camera's network status and real-time/historical traffic usage. Then you are allowed to set up different block rules:
Block Schedule --- The camera will be blocked for internet per schedule, such as 10 pm-8 am., Monday to Tuesday.
Block Upon Arrival --- The camera will be blocked when the trigger connects to Deco Wi-Fi, for example, the camera will be blocked from accessing the internet as long as your smartphone connects to Deco Wi-Fi so that you are able to view the camera via local connection directly.
Block for Today --- Block the Camera just for Today.
Under Local Only Mode, the cameras that are added to the Local Only mode will be left connected to the Wi-Fi but no internet access. So It would no longer be managed by the control APP via remote control, and only be accessible when the control app/smartphone is on the same Deco network with the camera.
Captive Portal Authentication for Guest Network
It allows you to set up a portal page for your guest network and improves the security of the guest network. After enabling Captive Portal, it gives the following options, Authentication Type/Time Limit/Redirect or customize a login page.
Matter
It is under Deco APP > Network > Smart Home. You are allowed to add Matter-Supported devices under Smart Home so that you can control these devices directly via Deco APP, and set up Home Automation altogether with other smart home devices.
Note:
1. Some features are not supported if Deco is under Access Point mode or there are non-Deco X50/X55_V1_1.3.0 models in the Mesh network.
2. Please make sure Your Deco APP is up-to-date.
3. The firmware downgrade could be performed via firmware recovery. >>How to use firmware recovery
4. As a reminder, similar features are planned to be rolled out gradually on other models and the technical support team does not have further details regarding the ETA of a specific model. It's suggested to check for new firmware updates on your Deco App regularly.
Please install the early access firmware first and explore the newly added features. We would love to hear from you and please feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.

@David-TP Hello, I just fired up a new X55 yesterday, and was surprised to find no MAC filtering. Since this has been commented on, I'll just say that I tried to install the new 1.3.1 f/w, but got a "Failed" message. Could this be due to the fact that my hardware version is 1.2? Honestly, I've never had a router without a whitelist, and consider it a necessary security feature. My 2-year-old TP-Link standalone router had it, as well as all my other routers over the past decade. Any ETA? Thanks.

Hi, welcome to the community.
It is indeed because the hardware version is 1.2 since V1.2 does not share the same firmware with v1.
The engineers are quite cautious about the release date and would not like to provide an ETA. So there hasn't been any updated news about the release date.
Thank you very much and best regards.

@David-TP any update on a release date for firmware 1.3.x (or greater) for X55 hardware version 1.26?
The 1.26 line is still on firmware 1.1.x (Published Date: 2023-06-14 -- https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/deco-x55/v1.26/#Firmware ) which doesn't have whitelist / access control -- which is a critical (and exceedingly basic, must-have) feature for any modern wifi device.
Please release 1.3.x for X55 version 1.26 -- this is a must-have!!!

Hello, I bought a deco X50-DSL. Unfortunately, this type, even if the X50 does not support the whitelist. Will there be a whitelist in a future update?

Terrible roll out.
This update does not work with V1.26 of the X55 and the official version does not have the whitelist feature for any version of the X55 other than the V1.6.
None of this is advertised in the model number or made clear anywhere other than the firmware download page.
Now I am hunting for a version 1.6 of the X55.

Hi, Deco X55_V1.2/1.26 with the latest 1.2.0 Build 20231229 also adds the WiFi Access Control(Whitelist) like Deco X55_V1/V1.6.
Please make sure your Deco is up-to-date.
PS: if there is another model in the Mesh system, please make sure all the models support WiFi Access Control(Whitelist).
Thank you very much and Best regards.

Thank you for the detailed info about the X55.
Is there a firmware version for the X20 V US/2.6 and X20 V US/3.6 that also add the Wifi Access Control (Whitelist)?
Thanks!

This is truly absurd the way you guys have rolled out this feature. I have X55's with different version numbers, where the later firmware (1.2.7) on the earlier hardware version (V1.0) does not have the whitelist feature. I know this because when I plug in just the Master Closet - firmware 1.2.0 hardware V1.2, the feature is present, but when I add Solarium and Living Room, the feature gets disabled. As a sidenote, I have also tried installing the 1.3.1 firmware on another X55 and it would not install.
These new V1.0 X55s came in a three pack, and the V1.2 came as a single unit, all ordered from amazon within a day of each other. The V1.0 X55s do have a later firmware available, but just noting that they are already at a later firmware version - firmware 1.2.7 - than the one confirmed to have the whitelist feature (Master Closet - firmware 1.2.0) and yet don't themselves have the feature. FWIW, a separate X55 Pro that I tested also did not get the whitelist feature on its current latest firmware. Craziness. Will update here with a report of latest firmware on the Solarium and Living Room - firmware 1.4.1 - and whether it allows the whitelist feature to work again.
